I've played for a while and maybe I'm wrong, but it seems that home teams are penalized for being the higher seed. Other simulators don't force the better team to lose income. Another game I play assumes that the visiting team sets up a viewing at their home stadium and pays them off of that.

The arena income goes 50/50 to home/away-team. If the hometeam goes to the finals the income should be same (or even higher because you can raise the prices) because there are still 2 games per week

Edit: even if you lose in the first round the income should still be Equalizer or higher (50% arena- income + no salaries the next week)

it is foolish

if i lose the playoff semi, i get 50% income but i pay salaries

if i play play out, i earn 2 * 50% income and i pay salaries. And besides i play 3 matches in a week so i can train 100%

If you have no competetive game this week (lost in first or second round) you did not pay salary this night... otherwise it's a Bug. And yes, with two games i meant the two games with arena-income of course, not the scrimmages.

I just do not see, that anyone is 'punished' or 'forced to lose money' with homecourt

Maybe our thinking is different? You do not have to pay salaries this week, but i guess your salaries are much higher than an normal arena-income... so over 2 weeks (last week+this week) you should not lose (much) money...

Salaries are paid on Monday. The games are Tuesday and Saturday. If I lose either of those games I've lost money

johnfox is saying we are all paying salaries before playoffs/relegations (except 8 seed). If you lost in Semis, u had only 1 game income even u were on top seed team, meanwhile relegation has 2 games guaranteed, so you get money for both games.

exaclty

on an economic point of view, if you get 4th place and lose semis you earn less money then arriving 5th and playing 2 playout matches

this has no sense

Ok, fair. I got your point from a (short term) pure economic point of view.
Still you 'lose' your money 'just' relative to the competition. Not weekly-economy-wise Looping at a two-week-span.

But even short term its better to lose in the semis (and therefor having a week wirhout salaries) than winning playdowns in 3 (and pay salaries)

Also it's still better than get relegated though... given a balanced competition: i'd never ever go for 5 instead of 4 by purpose, but maybe that's just my point if view.

AND this 'problem' has nothing to do with homecourt and the original post, since homecourt is a major advantage for winning in this game. And the 4th seed has no homecourt vs the first seed... but the 5th vs the 7th has...

In my eyes the quote "home teams forced to lose money during playoffs" is far from truth
