Hi Colleagues!

Is there a forum thread that addresses the topic of developing Small Forwards (196-204 cm/6'4-6'7) or could someone give me training guidelines to plan the training of a balanced Small Forward with an emphasis on the future development of his two defenses at the same level?
Regarding these, where to start and what to develop next?
Both interspersed?
Any thoughts there?

Hello
I'm currently training a small forward (3rd season now), and I've researched it quite a bit and the conclusions are:

You'd want to train 1vs1 forwards until your handling is at least 17, this will give you a high level of handling and driving that will give you a nice amount of elastic effect for outside defense and jumpshot. And this should work for every type of small forward you'd want, but then you have to think about how you want the end skills to look like and what type of small forward you'd want and tailor the training for him.

For a more balanced I would say training Jumpshot forwards until JS reaches around 16-17 and then move into inside shot until 18-19. From here on you'd want to train both defenses (ID and OD) until their desired level what I would consider a balanced SF would have at least 17 in both defenses but depending on the goal and the potential of the players you might want to continue until 20.

To get to this point, it will take something like 8 seasons to achieve. From here on depending if you want to have the player on a national team or not you might need/want to continue training him and rounding up the remaining skills (passing, range, rebound and shot block)

If you'd like to discuss this more we can chat up some more details and have this be less generic.

It is always nice to see someone being fascinated with Bricks just as much as me!

I would say that depending on the potential of the player, you have at least 3 ''general'' builds: Offensive, Defensive, Allround.

Does your team require more outside presence in offense? More JS. You have bad inside presence? More IS for offense, or more REB if your Bigs dont seem to get enough boards (REB on SF has more impact in the engine, than on PG or SG).

Also another question: Do you want to have a salary efficient player until he's 24 years old, or you don't care if he reaches 150k when he's 22 years old?

Thank you very much guys!

I see that planning for you is essential based on the needs of the team, player potential and salary control.

In both cases, do you think it would be advisable to start with 1v1 on Forwards for the first few seasons regardless of the future player configuration? I mean, for any type of Forward.
Or from the beginning would I need to think about what type of player I want and then start an adjusted plan?
