What are PickUp (PU) Games and how to initate or accept them?

Back in Season 63, BB-Marin’s start of the season News titled, Welcome to Season 63: Pick Up The Pace, introduced a new BB feature: PickUp Games. Every team in BB were given 3 ‘tokens’ to begin with. After that, each team received 1 extra token per week, 2 tokens if you are a supporter. So, what are these tokens and how do the PU games work?

A PU game is one you can schedule anytime with any team, even your second team! The tokens are the ‘payment’ for playing this PU game. However, only the team issuing the challenge pays the token for that game once accepted.

For example, Team A challenges Team B to a PU game. Providing Team A has at least 1 token, the PU game can go ahead once Team B accepts the challenge. It is Team A, however, who initiates the PU game by issuing the challenge.

How to challenge another team to a PU game:

IMPORTANT:
You cannot challenge another team to a PU game if you do not have at least 1 token (You will find how many tokens you have on your Scrimmage page).

STEP 1. Go to the Team Headquarters page of the team you wish to challenge. (This is the default page that comes up when you click on a team’s name).

STEP 2. Towards the bottom of that page, you will see a section titled Invitations. Beneath this heading you will generally see 3 lines:

The first line refers to Scrimmages.
The second line is the one you want as it refers to the PU games.
The third line is regarding Private leagues.

STEP 3. In the first drop down box you can choose to play the PU game at a Neutral, Home or Away Arena. Select the one that is appropriate. The second box, whilst not having a dropdown arrow, can be adjusted. Simply click anywhere in this box and extra features will appear. See step 4.

STEP 4. You can select the date and manipulate the slide boxes to choose the exact time to start the game. (It is strongly recommended that you play with these ‘timing’ bars to see how they work as they can reset by default to a future hour if not done correctly).

STEP 5. Once you have selected the date on the calendar (the current day will be shown by default), and selected the starting time for the game, and you have double-checked to make sure the time you chose (24-hour clock) is correct, click 'done'.

STEP 6. The most important and final step (Sometimes missed by managers) is to actually press ‘Challenge!’ to issue the challenge to the other team.

What Now?
Once the challenge has been issued, the team you have challenged will receive this PU challenge in their Scrimmage page. They simply need to go to the specified challenge and choose 'accept'. The PU game is then official and will begin at the designated time.
