If I'm not mistaken, all of the calculations are done at the time of injury with the doctor that was selected.
There's no way to avert the consequences, save for putting a higher level doctor on the payroll prior to the game.

It's not that bizarre, it does specifically say "when injuries occur".
NO ONE at this table ordered a rum & Coke
Charles: Penn has some good people
A CT? Really?
Any two will do
Any three for me
Any four will score
Any five are live

I'm not sure that doctors actually prevent injuries, but they can make an awful lot of them be only for the remainder of the game.
An injury that would be 4.5-5 weeks with a 0 doctor would be 4-5 weeks with a 10 doctor.
4-4.5 becomes 3-4
3.5-4 becomes 2-3
3-3.5 becomes 1-2
2.5-3 becomes 0-1
0-2.5 becomes rest of game only.
Injuriies are weighted toward the lower duration, so that 0-2.5 weeks for a 0 doctors are more than 50% which are game only with a 10 doctor.

in M:tG it would be a triggered effect (when this, .... then that ; example: when an injury comes into play, if you have an x level doctor, the injury is y weeks, where if x is higher, y will be lower)
this should clarify it for the vast part of users that knows M:tG rules ;รพ
They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.
