I had a situation where one of my players was fouled while shooting and injured on the same play. As far as I understand, when a player is unable to take his FTs due to injury, any player may be allowed to take them in his place. However in my case, the player who replaced the injured player, a poor FT shooter, ended up taking the FTs and missed both.

Seems like an easy fix to just allow the best FT shooter on the floor to take the FTs. Any reason not to make this change?

Here's the official NBA rule (NBA rules are used in BB):

(1) If the offended player is injured or is ejected from the game and cannot attempt the awarded free throw(s), the opposing coach shall select, from his opponent's bench, the player who will replace the injured player. That player will attempt the free throw(s) and the injured player will not be permitted to re-enter the game. The substitute must remain in the game until the next dead ball.

It's not stupid - it would be easy for a poor foul shooter to fake an injury to get a much better shooter to the line.

Maybe, but it would get very obvious very quickly in RL!

Right, and without a rule against it, it would be abused.

This IS the NBA we're talking about.

sure, did you mean a referree could say you stay on court what happens if he really injured and the injury get worst???

And there are injuries who look more serious then they are, so that the player could be on the training next day.
