Yet another hattrick player looking for newbie help, and I would be most grateful for your input!

I've read through the rules and a number of threads so I have a very, very, basic idea of what's going on but I have a number of questions:).

1) From what I can gather I should hire a new trainer, I have the option of hiring a level 8 with weekly salary of 17 790, should I?

2) How much should I spend on scouting?

3) It appears that BB is like HT in that you should focus on one specific position to train and put young players with high potential in these positions. What is the maximum age of trainees for a new team, and what should the minimum potential be?

4) Is there any particular position that is better to train for new teams? In one thread someone suggested centers, is that the consensus answer?

5) I just got my team so I think I missed out on the draft, correct? Thus I will either have to train my best young player, and/or go out and purchase trainees. I have a 22 year old potential superstar center (7 ft) who is respectable in inside shooting, inside defence, and rebounding, is he a good candidate to train?

6) I read that it is best to trim your roster down, what is a good number to have? When it comes to selling/firing the others, is there a level of DMI, salary, potential, etc that can help determine whether to sell or fire?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can throw my way!

I'm a bit noob too, and so u should wait for more answers...

1- Yes... Buy the best trainer u can get ur hands on :D

2-It depends on many things... if u think u'll do well and be at the top of your league when the season is over then 10000 is enough... if otherwise u think u'll be at the bottom positions then the draft can be a good investment spend 20000...
Nevertheless is possible u spend 40000 and have a lousy draft... so its ur choice... lol

3- U should focus on one position but not in one skill...in my opinion max age is 23/24 but is advisable to have 18/19/20 year olds in training positions... about potential, potential doesn't influence the speed of the training process (size does) but acts as a soft cap... as far as I know noone has reached this cap with superstar rating, so its a bit fuzzy to help u there... of course, high potencial players are more expensive when selling... :D

4-Every training is good... if u like u can train low men (PG and SG and even SF) and make a good profit and a good team with it...

5- U must have missed the draft yes... :(
That 22 yo is good for the position and u can start by training him this season, but u should buy some 18/19yo to train too...
u can train up to 3 players in one position or 6 in 2 positions(each player has to play 48mins in training positions in 1 week)... For instance at the end of the season u can sell ur 22yo player and choose what to do with the money for next season... ;)

6- I use 3 players for each position, but is commonly said that 12 players are enough... i usually try to sell a lousy player for 1000 and if noone buys I fire him... There is no problem because u don't pay anything to put a player on sale ;)

Hope that helps... but then again u should wait for more experienced answers :D

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond so thoroughly!

I guess I'll start by hiring that manager now then.

As my team is completely new, and I'm not in the lowest division, I imagine I will do quite poorly this year so I'll put as much as I can afford into scouting (although I don't really know what that is yet!).

May I ask what you mean by one position, but not one skill? Do you mean that I instead of just training my center in inside shooting for an entire season, I should for example train him in inside scoring for a few weeks, then change to rebounding for a few, inside defense for a few, etc?

Thanks again!

That's exactly what I wanted to say... In BB multiskill is a reality... for center u need inside shot, inside defense, rebounds and shotblock... u should rotate all the trainings to have the best player possible in that position...
u should read these threads
