If a player plays more then 90 mins does the efficiency of the training go down?

A player does not get any additional training once his minutes in a training position goes beyond 48 minutes, but there is no penalty for playing more minutes.

However, a player's Game Shape is more likely to decline/not increase if he has played too many minutes or too few minutes.

I try to keep my starters and primary backups between 50 and 80 minutes. You might be able to get by with 40 to 90 minutes, but as you go further outside those ranges, a player is more likely to lose game shape.

Game Shape is updated each Friday as part of the training update.

Game Shape is reset to Respectable at the start of the season. After about 3 weeks, players who play a moderate amount (50 to 80 minutes per week) will have either Strong or Prominent game shape, and as long as they continue to play in those ranges will stay at those top two levels, though they seem to change between the two more or less at random.

If a player plays more than that, there is increased chance of a drop. At 90 minutes, it might not drop. At 140 minutes, it almost certainly will drop. Similarly, a player who plays less than 50 minutes will tend to drop in game shape.

So with that logic in mind, its better to Err on the side of having not enough players (10-11) then having too many (14+ ) because its benefical to have good gameshape. Of course, you'd need to avoid extended injuries by having a lvl 10 doctor.

I find it useful to have a couple extra players so that you can fill out the lineup for the scrimmages, without worrying about a starter getting too many minutes or being injured. With 10 players and 3 games, the best you can do is have all 10 get 72 minutes. But more likely, you will have a few closer to 90 or 100.

well if you do it right, in my experience, you can have 8 players in the scrimmage each week with a roster of 11 players.
