Hey, where is jimrtex. He is our resident expert, believe me! Hopefully he'll weigh in fairly soon...If you place nobody in a reserve spot, then the designated starter will play as long as he is able, barring injury, too many fouls or crawling up the court. If you designate a reserve, that player will play a certain number of minutes that depends on a number of factors: 1. The stamina of the starter—the higher his stamina, the longer he'll play. 2. How many fouls the starter has and when he gets them. 3. The coaching tactics you have chosen—see the rules for that one. 4. Te score of the ballgame—if you're leading by a large margin, the coach will often substitute into the game. 5. Injuries can cme into play...Undoubtedly there are other factors too. In a scrimmage, many managers will designate no reserves for a certain position in hopes that a player with very few minutes played on Saturday and Tuesday will get a good number on Thursday to qualify for a particular scheme of training. For example, if you are training rebounding for C-PF and a certain backup has only 8 minutes in Sat-Tues games, you might not put in a reserve for his position (even though one way or another he might not play the entire game (but he should come close).
