Hello guys,

Newbie here
Just wanted to know what is the concensus here?
Should you specialize your training in 1, 2 skills or have an all-around player?
Which one works best?

the way it works is that you train certain positions. so if you train C/PF then you train IS, ID, RB, and SB on a bi-weekly basis

training should be balance because yopu leave your player vulnerable at some point of skills if the difference is so large

example -

travelling - happens when your driving skills are way over your handling skills

outside shooting - if the defense strategy covers coorectly especially with good od would make it harder for your player even with a high skils level in jump shot but low at jump range.

good shot blocking but low ID - tendency is you even with great intimidation still end up with more fouls

just to name some again this is just my observation.

That's an interesting theory. Hard to measure, obviously, but has anyone else observed this? I've only ever had one player with driving >> handling, and I don't recall seeing a lot of travelling calls.

then probably in your league there isnt much great outside defenders :D

even if there is, then we cant say im wrong or your right there is no point in pointing fingers , lets just work on a better way to understand this

probably a good way of saying the skill level is of larger difference is example a tremendous driving but proficient handling.

the way i explain it, if you have a better defender or has good OD skills tendency if your player drives or create either he cant execute his crossover or whatever dribbling he needs to do to succeed in driving or making that jump shot on a sudden space created.

no offense meant :D

I doubt that's true. I can only speak for my own team, which consistently fields one of the best outside defenders in the world. And I don't see many travelling calls by my opponent's at all. It feels like I have more myself.

truth is i only encounter and saw a lot of calls from other teams and ask those teams so i could arrive to a hypothesis because mostly the calls were in the bb3 contest so im expecting since bb3 is the highest prestige league the best players are there.

also i already said if the talent skills disparity is big, i think if the level difference is just 1 or 2 notches or even 3 up you wont feel the sting. especially we have to consider how the defense comes to you.

just like if your handling skills are way better than your driving tendency is even you get that killer crossover or you left your defender open mouthed with gasp saying " how on earth . . . .".

but with poor driving skills he cant finish, no body control or even too much speed . . . just my theory.

I have about 3 players where driving >>> handling. I don't recall many traveling calls in our games though.

I prefer to train all-round guys. It keeps their salaries lower.

i see this game is going like hattrick...thats bad...I know no one can have players like real word...and i dont like it..many people dont like it...
because when u are in 1st division even second u cant have player like O neill..bryant...who will be 3 time Unearthy or something like that(salary problem)...

that will make this game boring after few sessons like hattrick thing

sorry maybe on bad english

Yes, you train positions - and maybe throw in some specialists (e.g. convert a SG trainee with C/PF training in a SF).

That is basically a good description. But I wouldn't think that bi-weekly switches are the only option - or the best.
