When does it becomes "useless" to train a certain player?

I know that you shouldn't bother training a 32 year old... but
is a 22-23 y/o ok? or a 25 y/o with MVP potential?

potential only points to when improvement stops all together. skills can only get so high. but age by itself points to when the trainee starts to slow down in their progress. i believe 24 is around the age when players start to slow down in training.

Far as I know improvement never stops altogether, just slows down severely.

21yo players train half as fast as 19yo players.

Potential is not a cap. It slows down the training speed of a skill after it passes the potential point. However it is still possible to train the player past this point.

Once a player reaches 25 they are reaching the really slow training times and they should be past their potential then in most skills.

That's not really the way potential works. Potential slows down all training when the player's overall skill passes a certain point. This can best be explained by thinking that each level of potential gives you the opportunity to train the player to a certain salary. How you choose to distribute the skills of a player to reach the mentioned salary is irrelevant.

Potential is also not related to age at all.

I don't believe this is the case in the least.

When talking about age I was answering a separate question, I did not mean potential was related to age.

I remember Charles definitely saying that 18 and 19 year old players train twice as fast as 21 year olds. This was said back in season 3 when we had the training speed increased (thus increasing salaries) to balance the excess money in the BB economy.

In my experience once a player hits 21 they start decreasing in pops in comparison to the 18 year olds. I have a cruddy 19 year old which I train in the same position as my best player who is 21. Training a single skill with both players getting 48mins my 21 year old takes at least 2 weeks more to go up a single level. My 19 year old is also the wrong height...
