I wanted to know if older players should play less than younger ones in order to improve their form.

I am asking because this week I had opposite results between 2 players:

the first is 18 years old and played 84 minutes: he gained one level in form
the other is 31 years old and played 87 minutes: he lost one level in form

Is it due to their age or just a coincidence?

I should point out that there is some (small) element of randomness associated with the increases/decreases in form. Also, while form is reported as an integer (that is, as an adjective), it is stored as a decimal number. The player who increased might have gone from x.9 to (x+1).0, and the guy who dropped, from y.0 to (y-1).9.
