I was glad to see that if I search on my username, posts that I wrote are hit. The problem is that they aren't nearly enough. I searched this forum and found 18 total posts searching on "oeuftete", most of which I wrote. Problem is, I have written many many more posts than that in here. So not all of the posts are being found. Here's an example of a thread that wasn't hit: (24231.1)

My quick gut is that you're not indexing closed threads. If that's intentional, I think that's a mistake. Finding closed threads would be especially useful in this forum, since many GMs and BBs close non-duplicate issues once they feel the issue has been resolved.

The search only works on message bodies, not to: and from: fields. Last edited by oeuftete at... postscripts are also excluded at present.

Ah, I didn't spot that... I knew my obsessive editing of my own posts would pay off some day (of the old ones where the postscript was actually inserted into the content).

So... any chance we'll be able to search by user at some point?

Possibly, but we're not going to allow it right now.

The search gives the error page when you include a "!" in the box. I don't know if it's possible to change that, code-wise.
