indeed.
if the opposing center is THAT much stronger, then you can't count on tactics to plainly stop him, fact is you probably couldn't stop him no matter what...
you must look at it like this (pure fictional):
say your teams ratings are like: 4-4-4-4
and your opponent's are: 3-4-3-5
then choosing a tactic that hightens your last number at the cost of your first would make your team like this: 3-4-4-5. In this case you see you can neutralise his higher number, preventing him from being superior at any place, thus giving you a good chance.
An other tactic would be to lower your last digit in order to raise your first, which would give: 5-4-4-3
You now have a decent edge on the first, but give your opponent a decent edge on the last. By hightening your edge in the first, you hope/estimate that your opponent will suffer enough, or can not fully benefit from the last, so you can win.
In these cases you can make a diffrence with a well thought tactic.
if however your numbers are 4-4-4-4
and your opponent has 3-4-4-9
He can raide his first and let has back drop to 4-4-4-8 and still have advantage.
If you see you need to raise your back and go 3-4-4-5, you did slow him down a little, but you see he still has the big edge over you. If you put everything in it to focus on that last digit and go 3-3-3-7, you still come short, and give way in the others area's as well...
You need to see tactics similar to this fictive example: you can twist your figures a bit, but you can't work miracles.
So you always need to think what is best, planning on your own strengths, or trying to hold his strengths off, or a mix of both,... When the diffence is to big though, you can only hope you get lucky.
Hope this helps.
They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.
