Can someone explain to me why we need the 3 minute time increase every time you bid on a player/staff? This doesnt make any sense to me in a competitive bidding market. It allows people to just minimally increase a bid and drag on the bidding process forever, also in that same time period you may have a guy that wouldnt have initially bid because the original bid time had expired come in and go over the top of everyone elses bid.
If you are late for the bid too bad. If you didnt put in an initial bid high enough too bad. I dont get why the process has to drag out forever it seems like while someone just marginally bumps you by 1000 here and there

that's what makes it so frustrating... ;)
Without the 3 min extension:
If there is a player that is very cheap and you want him at a good price, you can chip in a bid that is low, and sit ready to bid again, but if someone bids more than the minimum raise you can be to late to renew your bid on the time it takes to type it.
With the 3 min extension:
You need time when the bidding round ends. Lots and lots of time. I have experienced over 1 hour extensionbids on one player. Not good when you have a job or training or other duties to attend.
I would like to have an extension, but have it 1 min instead of 3. Then someone who have not shown interest in the player before has very short time to decide if he is worth it, and you need a good feeling of the
real
estimated value.

Much more players will be sold at market value with the 3 minute extension.
Imagine you want to sell your player and you'd like to see a bidding war, so you put your player on the list at the lower part of the range. Then suddenly nobody's bidding untill a few minutes before the players auction is ending. The transfer deadline is extended and another manager decides to check the TL and see's the player is pretty cheap. He will bid on it and you will see a bidding war. This will happen less when the extension is longer.
Another thing is that when you got a little problem with your internet you will most certainly lose the bidding war at 1 minute. Plus daytrading will be more effective because you can just chip in and buy low priced players more often.

The main reason is that we don't want to have an E-bay style bidding market.

where people wait till last second to bid like crazy. Not sure if it's still the same right now. Maybe not because they have auto-bidding right now.
But they used to wait till last second to bid for an item. I even heard cases of scripting to get the last bid.

The main reason is that the player should go for the Manager who gives more money for him, and not for the one who is quicker or with better Internet connection.

The extension definitely should be there, however I believe that if a person has not even bid once before the original auction time expires they should not be allowed to join the bidding afterwards. I have been in situations where I have been still bidding on a player 30 minutes after the initial time expired when suddenly 2 ir 3 new bidders enter the auction. You should not be able to show up llate and still get into the bidding.

How you would recognise what was original auction time? That would lead to making a bid in last minutes (preferably with 2:59 to go) to prevent other from joining the auction and to confuse them. In addition it would be purposelessly difficult to distinguish between original time and new deadline which could happen to be only few second different very easily.
Most importantly a) prizes could go unnaturaly higher because people would like to bid "in time" b)auctions could be decided in few first hours worse minutes and it would be more about who would find the player soon enough which is not fair for not hardcore users and users with different time than seller. And could be more abusive too, (this is assuming a fix reasonable prize of a player and that nobody would overbid significantly)
or even c) everybody would bid in last minutes which could cause troubles when 10 people bidding at the same time with the same bid (this could happen now too but you can be more relaxed knowing if someone would make a bid you have +3 minutes, there is currently no fixed deadline to make a bid)

having the three minutes gives more room for psychology. You could minimum raise for a few bids, then let it run close to the three minutes and go in 10 x minmum bid higher to try and p1ss the other guy off etc. If all you are doing is minimum bidding, you are not using the full array of negotiating tactics available to you
