just did a real quick anecdotal search of the 80 teams in buzzerbeater who are in US divisions 1 and 2.

I average a little under 105 points a game. OUt of 80 teams that average is good for 3rd best. I'd expect to be 10th (right now 104.9 points a game would be good for 3rd out of 30 teams in the nba)

Meanwhile, we have a team that average FORTY points a game... 40 freaking points!

ok thats an outlier.

but OVER HALF of the nbba teams average under 90 points a game. there is not a a single team in the real nba that pathetic in offense.

i know its supposed to simulate nbba rules, and i realize many tactical choices are more college-esque, and the talent level isnt fully developed, but im really starting to think the rules are from the knicks-heat pat riley grind the game out era of the nbba, when mugging a player on their way down the court was acceptable.

just saying.

It's not that our offenses suck, it's that we've got excellent defenses.

Or that our defense is boosted by high enthusiasm. Wonder how scoring would look w/ teams at 5 all season?

edit - add that to list of reasons that enthusiasm is kinda lame.

I only feel qualified to respond because I watch soooo many NBA games. In the NBA the talent is outstanding across the board. The difference between the best SG and the worst SG arent that extreme, though it may seem like it. Yes Kobe or Lebron are just rediculously great, but the #10 SG or SF(whoever he is) isnt to shabby either.

In my short experience this game seems to mimic NCAA basketball moreso than NBA. Just my opinion of course. The NCAA plays more team based O and D (like 2-3 zone most of the game, etc.) whereas the NBA they sometimes call a different individual play everytime down the court on O. And the defenses are more a hybrid of zone/man that is constantly evolving to the situation, play by play (according to an interview on Jim Rome Is Burning with Kobe Bryant). Talent levels per position per team vary considerably more in the NCAA than the NBA as well, imho.

Just my theory, tear it down at will :)
