It used to happen a lot more because we had the 3 choices for enthusiasm during playoffs.

I think it was better the old way because it is a lot harder to use a strategy now. Now it is just basically CT the entire time.

Happened to me in season 4 when Aussieroos knocked me out in the first round

I managed to beat our division winner who had 23-1 this season today. I did beat him last season as well in semis but that time I was 2nd and he was 3rd.

I think overall now the system favours the team with the best overal record from both conferences.

It puts the pressure on the 2nd seed to perhaps Playoff normal a game to get a slight enthusiasm advantage OR invest in a National appeal and hope seed 1 doesnt have a Crowd involvement guy.

The 3 options allowed for some whacky results with Kamikaze teams sometimes preventing the favourites from continuing their regular season success with a deserved trophy.

This way the ball is firmly in the court of the favourite (rightly so IMO) and it will take a risk and luck from the underdog to surpass the HCA and take the overall title.

I managed to win last match with 1 point to go to playoffs. Had to gamble on enthusiasm in that match to improve my chances of promotionbut it nearly cost me an awful lot like it did for you.

Beaten dominant team in regular season now but still a lot is required for promotion.

In the first round, with human vs. human games, the home teams went 9009-1854 (82.9%). Of those, the 1 seeds won 90.0% of the time while the 2 seeds won 75.9% of the time.

Interesting data, thanks for sharing.
What about the RS? I have the impression that the HCA becomes more important at high levels. In my current series (Div. II) the home teams won 72.2% of the time (127-49), is that a reasonable value for you?
