What might be the problem? Are you liable for what people might write in there?

Sounds like the introduction of a Hattrick feature which, in my opinion, has been an unmitigated disaster since it was released over there.

You only have to look at the behaviour of users in the chat for national team matches between two countries that really hate one another to see how bad it can be.
I wouldn't even consider entering chat rooms in BB unless full IRC functionality* could be introduced and a full-time set of people to moderate these areas.

*To the point of, if you're going to be a 'tard, we'll add your IP to the chat ban-list-type functionality.

Chats are great and good fun in theory, but don't work so well in practice. Especially where religious or national differences come into play. There are also legal aspects to chatrooms, especially involving minors and extra-especially anyone under the age of 13.

Chat would have to be moderated, which on a per game basis as in Hattrick is literally impossible. The only real way to do it, to make it a fun secure feature is to open country based chats and only during times that they can be moderated. Which would be asking a lot from volunteer workers. Asking users to moderate themselves, or giving them options to do so is possible - but IIRC legally a bit of a wobbly one.

I'll have a thunky .. but it's right down the list of things of things to think about atm.
