i'm having trouble keeping my 18 SG on the court, he gets into foul trouble every game. i play a 3-2 zone and his outside def is respectable. But, no matter what 3 mins into the game, every game, he has 2 fouls.

So i tried starting my 30 player with average outside def and 2 fouls for the entire game!? Is this an experience thing? Can anyone help me?

I have had the same problems with my guards and I think that experience is a part of the problem, but what I have noticed from my games is that most of the fouls come on inside shots and my guys are poor inside defenders. Even when I play zone I see in the match viewer that they are still defending the opposing guard on lay-ups and dunks which is where a lot of the fouls occur.

Long story short, I think that poor inside defense ratings can play a large part in how many fouls your guards get.

thanks. i think you're right. So zone d doesn't really act like a zone.

I'm not really an expert on the game engine, but I think playing zone just affects overall probilities on inside shots, outside shots, and rebounds. When there is an actual shot I think the engine still factors the shooters offense vs. the defense rating of the defender of the same position (ie. SG vs. SG).

I don't think its a true zone, it just affects players ratings on certain areas of the court.

I think stamina may have an effect as well. I have a player who started all 3 games last week and didn't get 48 minutes total, so I'm training stamina this week.
