I got a tip from a mentor to train either PG/SG or PF/C.

I think that I am going to train PF/C. I am looking for information on which skills are necessary/some importance/ of little importance/and no importance for these positions.

Also, if any one has any suggestions and age and potential and the importance of those, that'd be great as well. And what kind of players should I look for in the other positions that I'm not training?

Thanks!

As a new player. PF/C is a great choice. You will be wanting to work on inside shot (IS), inside defence (ID) and Rebounding(RB). Depending on opinion, you may also want to train Shot Blocking (SB). You should rotate at 2 weeks for each skill so you build up gradually (this is slightly more efficient for training).

You are looking for players with at least average in 3 of the skills (mentioned above) to start with and it would be great if they had semi-decent handling(HD) and jump shot(JS) too. The player should really be as tall as possible and no smaller than 6'9".

Potential wise, i'd say go for the star/allstar area. You may well get a star potential for quite cheap and it'd be more than worth it. Wont reach the cap for ages anyway.

Obviously, for the other players. You want as high a skills as possible and go for older players to keep the price down.

Follow the new player guide for tips on the skills. I would say outside defence (OD) and JS may be of most importance overall.

Point Guard
(1) Handling, Passing
(2) Outside Defense, Driving
(3) Jump Shot, Jump Range, Inside Shot

Shooting Guard
(1) Jump Shot, Jump Range
(2) Handling, Passing,
(3) Driving, Outside Defense, Inside Shot

Small Forward
(1) Jump Shot, Jump Range, Outside Defense
(2) Handling, Passing, Driving
(3) Inside Shot, Inside Defense
(4) Rebounding

When I train PF/C in a skill, do all PFs and Cs get training? or just the ones that play? So do I want to have 3 of each for each game? Play different players throughout the week?

Sorry if this info is found somewhere, I can't find it.

Forget the 'best position' indicated on a player profile. It means nothing at all.

Only player that play in the PF/C positions in the game will get training. 48mins will give them maximum training.

does height affect training only or does it affect the actual game also? like in terms of rebounding(no matter what the rebounding skill of a player is)?

Training only. The height of the player is essentially factored into his skills.

i see. but someone from our forum wrote that his 7'0" player always gets more rebounds than his 6"11' one even though they have the same (strong) rebounding skill. what do you think?

It may be a lot of things (like rebounding sublevel, which position/who they play, pure luck), but it's not the height difference. Those players are even almost equal in training, since the height difference is very small.
