I am missing the defensive choice of playing "box and one".
Mainly focusing on rebounding, stopping the easy baskets underneath the basket and making sure your best defender do everything he can to take the opposing teams scorer out of the game, preferably by not letting him get the ball.

the problem is, who guarantees that the opponent scorer is on field? A normal coach will check that easily, but here your coach had to decide that without seeing the opponent lineup.

And i don't think that the 4 man zone is that good in rebouning.

I proposed for the box and one the same system made for the zone tactics now available:a strong defence bonus for the defender which plays in a certain role(there will be any problem for this),and the same defence malus divided for the other four players in field. Moreover there could be a little malus(less then the 3-2 defence)for thr rebounds

An high ball circulation could help to beat this tactics for the team which face it,avoiding that the player attacked tahe bad shots;a little level in handling and driving could cause an higher level of ball lost only for the role attacked by defence, but at the same time the stamina of defender could diminuish in a more little time

i´m not sure if i fully follow and agree to 100% but something like that anyway...

I´m thinking a quite small box where the four players would give up some easy treys for the sake of inside defence and rebounding.

yeah,it's a similar idea
But i think the malus in defence would be a little for all 4 the players(equal to the bonus give to the "one defender")

Box 1 -- gives up threes like nobodies business. It gives up baseline jumpers too. Backdoor cuts and screens will eat it alive. Trust me, I played the "1" in Box 1. I liked pressuring the ball handler and going where the ball goes, but all the opposition has to to is put two guys in one side of the paint, which takes away your two post defenders, then the wing players all shift to the opposite side and pass the ball around the perimeter, or wait for the other guys to collapse and pass it across the wing. (Lebron in very good at that)

Princeton would eat Box 1 alive.

Plus, your 1 guy has to be very good on the ball, and have a high motor.

The "defensive switching" will need to happen and be tweaked before the Box 1 is a reality. So you can put the "box" on the shelf for now....

Atleast it would make the Princetion tactic more useful.

Princeton is rarely used. I like Princeton, but I'm not sure this game runs it properly. The C is the focus, he gets assists and hits 3s yet mine, who is my second best player, and tailor made for Princeton, seems to just play like a regular center in games. He never atttempts more than 3 3s in a game and usually he only attempts 1. That is not at all accurate to Princeton's style.

The way I understand Princeton, the majority of the shots should be taken from outside and from right under the basket.

Somehow, I don't see Princeton producing too many inside shots at all -- it works like Run and Gun with lower pace.

Agreed. If you look at any Princeton footage or coaching books, whatever your source, you'll see all 5 players at the top including the C. That's how every set starts...

______________
' O '

Well when I posted this all the x's and stuff aligned to the left.

Then it's all passes. No dribble drive stuff, just screens and cuts and everything runs through the C. Who has to be an excellent passer and all five players should be able to make 3's. The inside shots are a result of backdoor cuts to the basket for uncontested lay ups. Lot's of movement is involved and it results in high percentage shots.

There should be lots of assists too, but alas, this is the one issue I really have about BB, their version of Princeton is just not accurate. And because of this, Princeton is widely considered useless in the context of the game.

Trust me, I have Princeton specific players and yet I yield poor results as far as shots, threes and assists goes. Not ratings or wins and losses, but the actual numbers are just way off. That's why I only run Princeton in PL and Scrims.

I don't think the GE is as complicated as this.
