Hey there.
I have seen a few players that have prominent or better jumpshot and atrocious free throw shooting.

I don't see this to be realistic and i propose the two attributes are tied together in someway.

Thanks

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55zIDCYSOMs&feature=re... - or him he makes ~40% Ft in his career, with this technik it is hard to believe^^

But you are allowed to make a jump shot at the free throw line, but i won't change the current system because free throw is an automtized shot where mental fitness is more important then technik.

Maybe those one are pretty ugly, but if you have one train then, the first training have an huge effect on shooting percentage.

I understand what you're suggesting, it makes sense - better jump shooters are usually better free throw shooters. But at the same time it would warp the game slightly if you suddenly brought in such a change, player's values would change overnight, just think how much a top center with 10 JS is worth now compared to what he'd be worth after the change.

However it is worth noting that there are players in the NBA that are great at free throw shooting but poor jump shooters, and visa-versa. David Lee and Tim Duncan for example. Jump shooting is a different mechanic than free throw shooting - and pressure comes into it too.

An alternative suggestion might be that JS training also trains FT shooting slightly. This way the outside players would have a mild advantage over the inside players when it comes to free throw %.

i just know his stats before he enter the nba, and there he always shoot around 40-45% ;)

Did he have an representive amount of FT in the NBA?

Edit: oh he got 50% in college, so maybe we met in the half way :) And in the first season you are right, but his technic stays ugly ;)

if you watch videos of NBA free throws, you'll see that most don't jump. They sit there, line up there shot, and ease it up and in. The mechanics for a free throw and for a jump shot are quite different, even if they may look similar (same hand positioning, etc.)
