It is much harder to draw any inferences about skill levels from DMI, and it has nothing to do with the likelihood to pop -- that depends on height, potential, and how much training a player is getting. (83037.9)

I've suspected for a while that players with higher potential pop faster. Is this known to be true?

No, not until two players with different potentials reach a certain point in their development. Potential acts as a soft cap that will slow down a player's training speed as soon as he reaches his potential. Further training is still possible after the potential is reached, it's just considerably slower.

Faster? No.
But a player with higher potential can reach higher skills level, while a lower potential after reaching a "cap" basically can't improve (or he'll do it veeeeery slow)

What they said

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Does each individual skill have an individual cap, or is it the sum of all the skills?

The cap is based on a salary-like variable, so yes, it takes all skills and the best position into account.

Are you sure about this?

So does that mean that a player listed as Center with 190 cm that gets trained as a SG and keeps his "big like attributes" low will get "farther in training" than a 190 cm listed as SG? Assume the second SG's "big like attributes" the same as the first.

lol just read through my post and it's pretty confusing...

it is only logical...
since best position is calculated based on the skills.

to be more clear:

let's say a player has low skills everywhere, except for OD, handling and passing, in which he is proficient.
would he be looked at as a center, he will not have reached the soft cap of the lowest potential by far, since he is very very bad as C.
However when you look at him as a PG, it is a prety good PG, with 3 of his primary skills up high, so he MIGHT have reached his cap, should he have the lowest possible potential.

as C - not reached it, as PG - reached it...

see... best position is taken into account.

Ofcourse BB will always calculate the best position for the player, so you can't claim your C to be a PG so you can train him longer. ;)

They are not your friends; they dispise you. I am the only one you can count on. Trust me.

I would say that its not logical at all... if it takes best possition into account, it would result in traning a SF you have to start with the skills in the right order not to hit the cap.

The position affects the way salary is calculated, I am pretty sure about this.
