this thread is for my benefit -- get my thoughts down on electronic paper.

In alphabetical order, my division first:

Blue has a Clue
-- I've never seen such a front line. I don't know how you get playing time for those four -- one of them must be your SF.
-- Guards clearly not of the same caliber -- Musoni equal to perhaps my best player.
-- I could see where Brazos could have won, and I could see where that win could have been considered a pretty big upset.
-- Good sized stadium, producing 200,000 in revenue, but it is necessary for that front line. My estimate is roster cost of 185,000.
-- Not active on the transfer list. Develops his players -- judging from his front line, develops them quite well.

I'm thinking, Blue has me for lunch.

Brazos Woodrats

-- big squad (17 players as I write), probably has not yet cut from the draft.
-- one big salary, at that hard-to-fill SF position. Ricker a fine player -- hits 3s, big scorer, can rebound, steals, can get a few assists.
-- a nicely constructed team -- judging from the salary levels, a bit above mine, talented players, and lots of them.
-- a run-and-gun team that does it well.
-- by far the most interesting thing about this squad -- I've never run across this before -- is their money comes from developing / selling players, not building a big arena. Very interesting. Maybe that big squad now makes a bit more sense.

Good team. I get the feeling a well-run team.

Central Florida Lobsters

-- like me, new to this level. Won their Div. IV final game championship by nearly 40 points. Lost the middle game by sitting his stars -- shows me this guy is not afraid to take a chance.
-- just dropped a million on a new center; is selling the detritus; has a couple of big men that can stay on the court with Blue's bruisers; couple of capable SF.
-- big arena, but his PR guy can't get a sellout. At those prices, now, he can get 170,000 a game.
-- up until this last purchase, had made a good bit of change from the TL.

I'm starting to get pretty depressed. the Lobsters are moving up, were Div IV, like me, and they are above me. This is going to be a long season.

High Tops

Man, it just gets worse and worse.

-- A Div II team last year. Oh no.
-- a player with a salary of 53000, six other players with 5-figure salaries, players who would be stars for me riding his bench. oh no.
-- one of the more active TL people I've seen -- 14 million in transactions.
-- considering his payroll, not that large of an arena. can't sell out the bleachers -- curious.
-- has already won two championships at this level.

holy crap.

four teams done, and every friggin' one of them will rip my limbs off.

Magnums

-- a .500 squad from a year ago.
-- two big fellas with 90,000 in salary between them. dang. great rebounders.
-- i don't get perrier; large salary, but playing time last season was limited. maybe he owed the coach money or messed with his daughter or something.
-- another player who makes his money from player development, which suggests to me the dude knows what he is doing (I think training is tough -- of course, I may be trying to train pigs to fly).

i don't know. this is a 500 team?? yikes.

Ozark Tigers. My rivals.

-- like me, another Div IV winner.
-- he's got three big players who are coming along quite nicely. not yet at the level of the magnums or blue, but after another year of development, quite respectable players. have already seen a couple of teams with very good big men. Ozark will fit right in.
-- salary level then drops after that. small arena, and the TL is not a source of funds. this team might be strapped for funds.

i'm glad we're rivals. first squad i've seen that approaches my level. i will watch very carefully how this team plays against the rest of the conference.

Wangsters

-- holy smokes. this dude is selling the best scoring player i have ever seen. mvp. what could he be thinking?
-- just scrolled through the rest of his squad. now i see -- Wangsters R Carmichael. and pritchard -- who was sold. this man is rebuilding his squad.
-- if he gets 4 million for his Carmichael, then we have to see who / what he buys. If he does not get 4 million, then he still has one very very very good player with a fair to decent supporting cast (Jordan and the Bulls?)
-- but if he sells Carmichael he is sitting on boatloads of cash -- wish i had his problems!
-- will he buy to win this season? or buy youngsters and play for a season or two. i know i guarantee he will not get relegated after this season!

this has been rough. i need to get my friend Johnny Walker or maybe Jack Daniel to help me through this.
