I just started and noticed that in the staff page I am able to buy a level 10 trainer. When is the right time to look for a trainer? Is it like hattrick where I should get a good trainer right away as a top priority or should I wait untill my economy is settled?

In my opinion, top priority.

But you cannot forget your economy.
