This type of player is very very special who has a chance to make the U21 potentially. You are brand new to this game so you need as many USABLE resources as possible to succeed and promote as efficiently as possible. This player could never be maximized on your roster due to your small reserves and resources so it is best for the country and your team to use him as a building block for your team for seasons to come by selling him. This player is most likely valued at excess of 1Mil and can create the foundation that the vast vast majority of teams are not able to create so quickly in this game. This player is your ticket to quick promotion into the next level by selling him and allocating the proceeds to bolster your roster all around.

You are in a low division, so you will not need that high salaried players to advance. If I were you I would sell this player asap and have the starting price at around 950000, sell him and buy a level 3/4 trainer. I would then determine whether I am going to train guards or bigs and purchase 2-4 allstar potential or so guys that match that position's height and skill requirements at 18 years of age. I would then fill out my roster with a bunch of older players who are valued less because of their age but will still perform quite well at a lower div. because of their skills and experience. The money left over could then be used to upgrade the arena by around 1000 seats or so and you will then be able to still make some money each week with some cash reserves too. You will then hopefully be able to promote within 1 or two seasons and gain even more cash in the promotion process.

so in essence what your roster would look like would be
-sell your player for around 1Mil or more and buy
-2-4 allstar potential or so trainees at 18 yrs of age
-3/4 other players with salaries around 6-12k filling out the rest of your roster
-lvl 3/4 trainer
-create a bunch of seats for your arena
-hopefully promote

new players should learn the game before giving out advice

he wont be able to train this guy to his potential and keep him , his team wont advance/invest enough to be able support his guys wage let alone his team.

his much better of selling him , buying 3 18 yr old allstars and training them.

investing the rest in a good oldie or 2 to promote and put the rest into his arena.

as a new player you should prob be doing something similar

Blindly training very few skills without thinking of their effect on salary (or performance) is what causes bad managers to have to sell their mono-skilled behemoths. I'm amazed how easy it is for managers to forget that players have 12 skills when those skills are listed directly beside the players face on their roster pages.

Whoever said he's unlikely to have a player this good again is right. He should train him.

(But what he should absolutely not do if he wants to keep him is contact the U21 manager in his country. That would be his Waterloo.)

Hello Walks-a-lot.

Welcome to the game. I am by no means a terrific manager, but here is my suggestion:

Sell your player, but start at $1.4m. Put your player onto the transfer list on Monday or Wednesday (so that he will sell on either Thursday or Saturday). Remember to post a transfer ad for him (under community -> forum -> new ad).

Then change the prices and use some of the money to build up your arena.

This is going to give you a terrific head-start that most of us never had, so take your time to learn the game before rushing to spend that money.

Is he better off? Maybe. Will he regret selling him 6 seasons from now? Probably.

So that's the hangup, the full potential? Because he could likely train him for six or seven seasons without the guy ever capping out. And how many MVP+ potential players are trained to their "full potential" anyway? 10%?

It costs him nothing to train the guy, and no, it may not be the best idea, but his merch income will thank him for many seasons to come if he trains the kid.

i dont see the point of him training him when he could get three players just as good with less potential and train them.

to me 3 good players beats one good player who didnt and wont hit his potential .

which then begs the next question what brings in more merch

3 good players not from your own draft or

1 good player from your own draft.

id say the 3 personally.

also with the three good players his more likely to promote faster and thus have higher income anyway

I tend to agree with Zyler here. He just got this guy too early in his BB career. The ascent to DII can be a long one and I don't think the best of the DIII teams in the USA can support a MVP potential center at the height of his potential. Knowing what I know now, and if I were to be in his shoes I would sell asap. This guy would bring in three really nice trainees that could take him all the way to DIII or beyond and finance a decent arena upgrade. I would bring in three guards with allstar potential, get a level four trainer and maybe even a couple of 10k per week bigs. Use new team money for arena upgrades and set himself up to launch into DIV on the ground running. This guy could be a monster for sure, but he would never be able to afford guards in the current market that could catapult him to DIII once this guys salary started hitting six figures.

I can't afford an MVP potential center at the height of his potential, and I'm old money.

Y'all realize that the kid has three skills that are awful or worse, right? He could train each of those for a season and have relatively the same salary at 21yo.
