One thing is sure: BB's have to do something to make 4th place more intersting than 5th because it's ridiculous...

So you think it's normal that teams prefer finish 5th than 4th or 3rd?
I will finish 3rd or 4th and i would have prefered finsh 5th to have not to pay salaries because i know that it's impossible to win without HCA in big divisions.

I try... But if I want to have a better team, I need cash... And 5th place is more interesting for that...
I prefer not to pay 800k (salaries) one week than pay salaries and only won 150-200k for the semi-finals. It's illogical...

All we know is that managers are facing tough times theses days, with always losing, not getting enough attendence or paying trash players too much $$$$$. So giving $$$ to all participants in the playoffs will help get them out of debt or give them more $$$ for the bills.Who's with me? This would help get managers motivated to always finish in the top 4 in their conference. And there are some conferences that are lop-sided like 1 time i saw 5-11 team in the playoffs nd suspect tanking happened in that conference. Only 2 teams had great records. In the other conference there was a dog fight with 7 of the 8 teams being competive and had reords like 11-5. This is just.............

I totally agree. I hate that tanking is a legitimate strategy to improve one's team. Even GM-Jason admits to tanking last season so that he could get back to DII with a strong team. There needs to be a significant penalty to deter managers to field uncompetitive teams.

3rd/4th should be worse off than 1st/2nd is one thing, 3rd/4th being worse than 5th (arguably?) is another thing. You should not mix them together. I can't see what the thread starter proposed is taking any advantage away from finishing 1st/2nd, yet you keep dwelling on it. The big advantages of 1st/2nd are still there, HCA and higher attendance income. It's just that those who enter the PO benefit as opposed to finishing 5th or lower.
