He cares for his money, not for the country! I think the people of Cyprus hate the people of Greece.

Come on, be serious....If you have no idea about Greece and this issue, just don't participate in this thread.

If there is a serious attempt to not have a political discussion here, I think we can keep this open. I don't know if that is possible with this topic, let's see. It however must be possible to refrain from nationalistic and racist attacks to keep this thread going.

This thread should be closed. When we speak about economy (Greece) there is always reference to politics. It's connected with themselves. It's not natural disaster when we can really symphatize to such as: Haiti (do you still remember?), Philipinnes, Japan and other countries. I do not enjoy such debate, because there is always a bad guy in such conversation, however he tell the truth and I think I'm that person.

There is no reason this thread to be closed yet. GM-WallyOop stated the rules and if we put aside politics, there is no problem.

You seem that you might have a problem with Greeks. You accuse them of not paying taxes. Do you know that Greeks work more hours in average than any other people in Europe? Of course you don't or you neglect it.

Look. Of course Greeks have been foolish for many years, because they kept voting the same parties and politicians, who finally deceived everyone. Of course there is a big number of Greeks who don't pay taxes, because the Greek law is unable to arrest them. You can blame them for all these. I blame them as well. Actually personally you can't, because you pay nothing for us. You should have in mind that there are many Greek people(like me) who are obliged with this situation to leave their homes and go abroad to study or work.

Do you think that it's only Greece that has a debt? There are other countries of E.U with higher debts. I hear everyone accusing Greece for the bad economic situation of eurozone. That's ridiculous. Greece is such a small country, unable to make all this mess in its own. Wait and in the near future, there will be more countries in Greece's position if nothing happens. Greece is only the start. There are many people in European governments who make money from this "crisis". This crisis is not people's fault and we shouldn't have any conflicts between us, even if we are Germans-Greeks-French-Italians etc. People in all countries should be united, because there is a big game played between our governments. Just open your eyes...

And if you don't agree with all these, just try to be more kind because many of us here have left their homes, their families and EVERYTHING due to this situation....

I don't blame Greece for current situation, because as you said your country has too weak economy and yes, every country has a debt. The difference is only how big it is. Greece is out of control. You won't help yourself on your own. The only reason why Greece is on headlines is money which comes from Germany, UK, France.... . THey help you to get back their money. Your country is an example what can happen with Italy, Portugal, Ireland (all of them >100% public debt). Nobody knows that will happen. What can happen with EU and Euro currency? Nodoby knows what means country bankruptcy. I don't think you will need to sell your islands :P It's not funny, but any country use leverage, but the difference is it's size.

Thanos, let me say this straight, I do not think that all of Greeks are guilty for I think european economical situation, but I think this is true what PeWu said that a lot of You (portugees, spanish, italian, polish too) live, and do not think about country, and our politics want only to pleased giving us privileges, for voting to them at the next elections.

I think the best way to finish this conflict is bancrupt and start again, now the richer countries like germany, france, great britain, catch You, and You will dance like they play.

no offence
regards

Lol, what does it mean? Seriously. I don't get it. It's not a company, when due to too much debt creditor takes some assets. After that you can even start over a new company. It's not working for countries. Do you mean that Greece won't pay Germany, France, UK their money? OK it sounds good, but then Greece will stop developing. They would spend only money from taxes, because nobody will buy their bonds. The international corporations will leave Greece which means less money from taxes, higher unemployment, less money for people. European Cuba (no offense). Currently Greece has the least GDP growth in Europe (-3,5% - [-5%]).
