I belive DR creats better shots and not passes. However i have nothing to back that up with more then what the game manual says about DR.
Driving: Allows the player to create his own shot without a good pass from a teammate. Better driving creates shots more often and creates better shots on average.

Sure you do. You can see players with high driving but low passing, not giving a lot of assists. That means, driving is only to create better shots, and I even doubt that.

There should be no relation. The Rebounding stat is used to calculate the likeliness to grab an offensive rebound, not driving. Because when you drive, you need skill to keep possession of the ball and not turn it over. Whereas, people aren't gonna try and stop you from standing under the basket. What I mean is, you have nothing to lose possession of. I firmly believe that the rest of the procedure(boxing out and actually grabbing the rebound) is purely based on the Rebounding skill.


Difference between a driving shot and a regular jumpshot is the proximity to the basket. So my theory back in the days was, that if a player is closer to the basket the probability of grabbing a rebound should be higher. Maybe the fact that players rebounding their own failed three point attempts is a good piece of evidence that it makes no difference where on the court a player stands...

Maybe players grabbing defensive rebounds after block shots is a good piece of evidence to how perfect the Game Engine is........

I thought Driving was used for a player to create his own shots. That means the player dribbles towards the basket (so Handling is necessary, too), but the shot will not always end up being a dunk or layup, it can also be a shot from the perimeter, elbow or wherever the GE determines the high percentage shot is, depending on the skills of the players and the tactic.

This happens in real life, too. The blocked shot doesn't quite make it to the rim and the blocking player grabs it as an example. This is technically a block and defensive rebound. I know this isn't how it is calculated in the engine, but it's not out of the ordinary. The engine does not take any consideration to spacing on the floor.

I have found some success with DR and little IS. It works okay against guards because they don't generally have enough ID or BL to defend even the minimal IS.

Driving should cause a player looking for more shot attempt. Whether is inside or outside, it depends on the weight of IS or JR. However, the quality of shots are coming from how good is his handling skill. As the defensive intensity increases to that player, that's when his handling skill is tested against the pressures. Just IMHO.

It was revealed in an ancient forum day and confirmed by one of the player geniuses (josefka or moutlinho) that there is a special type of shot in BB called a driving layup that doesn't need inside shot at all to succeed and is generated by high driving skill.

Yeah, back in the days when they were still active.

I had a guard with high driving and high IS and he dunked much more than other guards... however I dont know if this was just a presentational difference...
