Reggie Miller scored 8 points in 8 seconds against the NewYork Knicks so 12 points in 17 secons is possible.

The question is: does this happen many times in BB. If yes, its a bug...

What is your definition of "many times"?

Games Played This Week: 145857
Games played in an entire NBA regular season: 2460

The NBA has 1.6% of the games for a season that BB simulates in a week.

Crazy things statistically will happen much more often on BB then they will in an NBA game.

It might be unusual, but with hundreds of thousands of games played a week, you're going to see some odd, but possible occurences.

These kind of oddities seem to be a little bit too common though.

The new GE is trying to simulate the 'real' last minute and honestly I think that BBs have done a good job with it... but I also think that there is room for 'fine tuning'.

This is what happened in the last 8 seconds of my today's game:
0:08 defensive rebound for team A
0:06 foul by team B
0:06 2/2 FT made by team A
0:02 3 point made by team B
0:00 Foul by team B
0:00 0/2 FT made by team A

All fine except that team A was ahead by 11 points already... I think that with -11 points and 6 seconds to go team B should just give up instead of continuing the foul and 3p strategy... and the foul on the last second is just nonsense.

But you will surely pretend there is nothing odd also with it as you too often do...

Right, I'm pretending.

Personal attacks aside, see my response above.

No, he did not. He scored 8 points in 11 seconds, and the dinamic of how he did it whas completely different. He stole the imbounds pass before his second 3, so he didn't have to travel the length of the field. My opponent had to do that not once, but twice.

Right - the Miller game isn't really germane to this discussion.

See my last post, though.

Is it physically impossible to win the New York Lottery 3 times in a row? No,right? But I would say that the odds are so low that it can be considered statistically impossible.

I would say that the same thing applies here.

Now, if you want to keep saying that in your opinion there is nothing wrong and what happened is perfectly fine then all right, I'll take it as your opinion on the subject. But, if at all possible, I would like to hear the opinion of a BB regarding the matter, and see if the Game Engine is handling these situations like they intended.

If they tell me that nothing is wrong, and the Game Engine is working exactly as they intended, then I'll drop the subject and draw my own conclusions.

FWIW, my gut feeling is that something's up. Nigeria performed similarly well (although not quite as extremely) in the late minutes vs. Canada in the same situation. Almost as if there's a wrong sign in the adjustment meant to lessen the chance of making desperate late, forced three pointers.

Exactly. The percentage of 3 pointers made in these late rally situations goes up dramatically for no reason at all.

And besides, I think it would also be smart for the Game Engine to implement that the team with the lead put its 5 best free-throw shooters on the floor once it sees that the other team is fouling every two seconds.

I am not R.Madrid Basket team supporter, neither GM-JuicePats supporter... ;-)))

But look at this crazy last minute in the last match of the final of the spanish basket league between R.Madrid and Tau: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8NSwhix3sI)

Summary: 40 seconds to the end, result R.Madrid is losing by 8 points and technical foul to the Real Madrid player Alberto Herreros.

R.Madrid with the ball... make 3 points
Tau with the ball... fails 2 points
Rebound for R.Madrid... make 2 points
Tau with the ball... turnover
R.M with the ball... misses 3 point shot.... fault, 2/3 FT
Tau with the ball... turnover
Time-out asked by Tau
R.M with the ball... make 3 points
Tau, last attack... try 2 points and ball blocked... End of the match.

And this is not the longest last minute I have seen in my life...
I bet that the Tau trainer would have posted in the ACB bug forum if it would exist... ;-)

Real went on a 9-0 run in roughly 40 seconds. 9 points in 40 seconds is quite a bit different than 12 points in 17 seconds, wouldn't you think?
Also, Tau helped them out remendously with that turnover after the free throw that made it 69-67 that took 0 seconds off the clock.

I don't see the similarity between the two situations.

The "only" difference is this was real basket, and this is a basket simulation game.
It could probably be better than now, but I am already surprised about how good it can be reproducing real basket feelings.
Look at some matches of Greece during the 80's, and you will see very crazy things.
One player missing so many "easy" 3-point shots suddenly start to make really crazy 3-points from nearly everywhere...
Before the changes many people claimed for a more realistic end of the match, which was somewhat plain before. The improvement is really clear and of course it can be improved, but the level is already very high in my opinion.

No, the difference is that one team scored 9 points in 40 seconds, the other scored 12 points in 17 seconds.

But my point, and the point of this thread, is to try to understand if something like this should be happening (meaning it is considered acceptable by the BBs), or if it something that should be looked at and changed.

I understand what you say, nothing wrong on it.
The problem that we have (we = italian, spanish), is that the way we speak sounds strong to americans (not sure whether it is to all of them o just to the two or three that live in this forum... ;-))))

So they think we are complaining, when our intention is to provide some feedback to BB developers.

Well, I grew up in the States and English is actually the first language I've ever spoken , so I don' t think that communication is a problem here. I don't see how my post can be misinterpreted, since the first thing I said was that since I won the game, I wasn't complaining just for the sake of it or just because I lost.
My point is to try to understand if what happened in my game is acceptable, and if not, to give the BBs a chance to explain what happened, and if they think it is necessary, take a look at the Game Engine and try to fix it so it doesn't happen again.

Anyways, I'm sorry if my posts weren't clear, and caused some confusion as to what the point of this thread actually is. I hope I cleared it up now.
