Ok, subject to game shape rolls tomorrow night, the starting 12 for the NT have been named. They will likely take us through at least until our 5th game, against China, barring injury or gameshape issues.

There will be players added throughout the season, so if you have a player on the fringe, keep them in good shape. I will be messaging managers with players on the fringe soonish.

For those with players in the team, know that I consider that the cost of the small hit to enthusiasm is vastly outweighed by the benefit I receive for cutting a player whose manager screws up their gameshape. You have been warned.

Without any further ado - here is the first 12 players:

Jone Bogan (Koopasaurus) - 33yo, 48 NT caps

An Aussie legend, who was one of our best U21 players ever back in the day, and was sold for, an at that time insane, $4.1 million as a draftee. Made his NT debut just over 2 years ago in season 19, and has been a mainstay ever since. Probably in one of his last seasons as a NT member.

Dylan Scoggins (That's How you Get Ants) - 28, 30 NT caps

Scoggins has been in the NT since season 23. Looked to be cast as a rent a big for a while, but looks to have found a home staring in the ABBL.

Claus Querido (Pancakes with Jam and Cream) - 26, 0 NT caps

After playing in some NT scrimmages late last season, Querido will look to get his first taste of the real action this season. Has recently made his first appearance in the ABBL for the Pancakes, and is the youngest player on the NT roster at the moment.

Darren Lonergan (Black Label Society) - 28, 25 NT caps

Another NT member playing in the ABBL, Lonergan is a two time ABBL allstar, who has been a member of the NT for several seasons. Showed his abilities by averaging 22 points and 14 boards in the ABBL last season.

Lionel Ritchie/Walker (Dallas Mavericks) - 32, 72 NT caps

One of the real veterans of the team will look to move of the leaderboard of NT caps played - though he will need to play for a few more seasons to get close to the record NT caps. Currently playing overseas, Lionel has a long ABBL history - playing in many all star games and winning multiple titles with Whitebeard.

Vladimir Shishaev (BrisvegasSpurs) - 30, 30 NT caps

Another player who earned multiple ABBL allstar appearances and titles with Whitebeard. Has recently returned to ply his trade in Australia's top league.

Leigh Reiffel (West Island Tigers) - 29, 15 NT caps

Has the distinction of being the only player on the team with less than MVP potential. Also has the distinction of spending his whole career thus far with the one club - though has only played one season in the ABBL. Currently operating in division 2, where he frequently flirts with a triple double.

Thad Hadley (吉吉) - 29, 25 NT games

Played with the team that drafted him, the West Indies from season 15 through 24, where he helped them reach the ABBL. Currently operating in the top division in Macau, and is a perennial MVP candidate.

Emori Falotesti (ragin stajans) - 29, 0 NT games

The second of our players likely to make his competitive NT debut this season. Has spent most of his career overseas - first in China, and now in the top division in Canada.

Brent Degas (Hapoel Naan) - 29, 24 NT games

One of our gun guards, Degas was trained in Turkey, before spending time with both Black Label Society and Pancakes with Jam and Cream. Has moved around a bit recently, but is currently playing in Israel.

Scott Schnieder (Aussie Pride) - 28, 26 NT games

After being trained up by Aussie team Harison Heat, Schnieder briefly moved overseas to Spain. Since his return to Australia, he has flitted around ABBL teams, before winning the ABBL title with Aussie Pride last season.

Keith Anderson (Soverign Weatherlights) - 27, 8 NT games

Young, and the most expensive player in Australia. He is pretty good.

Considering he has gone to some Turkish Division 3 team who played most of their players for 144 minutes last week, yeah , you probably should have ;)

Just a reminder to all - we kick off our campaign tonight at 9:00pm AET against the Nguyens.

Hopefully should be a good first up win - but no game can be taken for granted.

Well we got our campaign off to a solid start with a harder-fought-than-I-would-have-liked 34 point win against team Nguyen.

The game in five:

1. The team was surprised by the fact that there were only 4 Nguyens in the Vietnamese team. This shock translated into their early play - with the team getting off to a sluggish start.

2. The entrance of debutant Emori Falotese sparked the team early, with four assists and four points in his first 5 minutes of NT basketball. From there, the team was never headed, despite a couple of runs from Vietnam.

3. Lionel Walker had a stinker early, failing to score any points until late in the third quarter. A flurry of points after a certain NT manager bagged him out saved him from worst on court honours - though he did a good job defensively all night.

4. After a bit of a tussle through the second and third quarters, the team pulled away late in the third quarter, with the game entering garbage time early in the fourth, where the team ran away with it. Sadly, despite the garbage time, Querido didn't get off the bench, so he'll have to wait another week for his debut (though his player history gives him credit for the game).

5. Vietnam have some of the worst NT players I have ever seen on their roster. I'm trying to figure out why any NT would want a 3K 34yo star on their roster. I can't think of any.

Tough week to pick out votes, with no real standouts offensively or defensively.

Darby Walters medal:

3. Scott Schnieder: Gets the three votes for performing efficently from the PF slot in an outside offense. Did it all really - scoring jumpers, inside shots, and even an alley oop.

2. Brent Degas: Solid without being spectacular, Degas notched up 21 points on 16 shots, including a three. Did a decent job facilitating the offense, with 4 assists.

1. Jone Bogan: A couple of blokes of the bench could have got the one vote here (I only wanted to give it to one of them, since they mostly scored in garbage time). Bogan was the most efficient scorer on the night, so he gets the vote. Scoggins unlucky.

-1. Keith Anderson: Can I give negative votes? Damn right I can. You go 3-12 from the field, and rack up 4 TOs against Vietnam, and you are getting a negative vote.

Rudolph Radford medal

3. Scott Schnieder: Scotty makes it the double with an all around great defensive effort. The opposing PFs could barely score on him, he pulled down the most rebounds on the team, and managed a couple of blocks to go with it.

2. Lionel Walker: The opposing SF went 3-12 (which considering how the PG and SG went, is a pretty damned good defensive effort), and Lionel grabbed four steals as well. Lack of boards a bit of a downer though.

1. Keith Anderson: Did a good job keeping Pham quiet, and picked up 3 blocks.

-1. Brent Degas: Another performance worthy of a negative vote. You let a 36yo guard in poor gameshape go 10-15 against you? Negative vote.

Jackson Mansfield medal leaderboard:

With a solid all around game, Schneider jumps out to an early lead

6. Scott Schneider
2. Lionel Walker
1. Brent Degas
1. Jone Bogan
