Erm... you misunderstand me. I don't necessarily disagree with the difficulty - but I do disagree with the English usage. At the moment, it just appears to be GE not working as intended, or poorly-phrased.

It's the substitution patterns which are not working as intended. All of them. "Strictly" is the one with fewer bugs.

Hopefully they will do something about this at some point.

Why the hell would I play a statistically absurd twitch based game when I'm clearly more into the numbers aspect of the sport, otherwise I wouldn't even be on this site? And that being said I DO understand BB strategy isn't the same as real world strategy, and do appreciate the intricacies of it(otherwise I wouldn't be dressing a limited number of players and cross training people out of position), so don't attack me for agreeing with the premise of the original post, strictly follow depth chart doesn't mean STRICTLY follow it.

Well... given the wording, it should be irrelevant how many people are in your line-up. It's a little odd that you need to have nobody on the bench, so there's no opportunity to deviate to assure that the GE "strictly follows depth chart".


Are you mainly talking about the way that it'll sub out a player set in all three positions (Starter/Backup/Reserve) in the last two minutes for seemingly no reason?

Strictly at least works ok for training purposes... I've been able to get a full 48 minutes at the desired position for my trainees 5 out of the last 6 times with the one fail being 46. I'll take it.

An alternative method than to try 48 minutes in a single game is the more realistic dividing it up across all 3 games via a rotation:

1, 2, 3
2, 3, 1
3, 2, 1

for your depth chart. Most likely, you get 20-30 minutes from the starter and the rest for the #2 guy (never really see 3 hit the court much). The combination of start and backup minutes can get you the 48 if you're lucky... though it's really best to do this with 2-position training so you can put your most important trainees in the 2nd position a bit as well.

I don't usually train double position and, when I do, I try to get 48+ in a single game for both positions. I don't use Strictly, I only use CPfDC. All the options are bugged, but knowing the bugs you can anticipate them and plan accordingly.

A player not in the depth chart playing minutes is most definitely a bug in Strictly. No matter how bad the Stamina of the player is he should stay in the game and kill his own team, but the Depth Chart should not be overruled by the coach in any circumstance. On this basis Malice is right.

Call it "Follow the Depth Chart" without "Strictly" and state in the game manual that the Coach can occasionally overrule the orders.

No argument there. If it says strictly follow and the coach goes outside the depth chart, that is a bug...

Unless 1 of 2 things happens:

1. The player gets injured and thus can no longer play (obvious)

2. The player gets in foul trouble (less obvious if you don't really look at it)

#2 is only a factor if you say "sit them" for foul trouble... if you say "let them play" they shouldn't be allowed to leave until they actual foul out and thus are ineligible.

If you set the same guy to all 3 DC positions, the coach literally has no choice but to break from your depth chart if the current player can't play (or is in foul trouble and you instruct the coach to sit players in foul trouble).

In that scenario, this is NOT a bug. He's doing exactly what you told him to do. I've observed this in my last game where my C only played 43 minutes, being benched in the 4th quarter upon hitting 6 personal fouls and a random PG off the bench was pulled in to play C since I gave the coach no other DC options at C other than the starter.

I don't use "sit players". Let 'em play, follow depth chart - strictly. Yet time, and time again - with no other option on the bench other than to play a player out of position, my coach breaks the DC. Hell, every player on the line-up has a role to play in the game - yet he STILL goes outside the DC.

If I could fire him, I would.

That's strange. I've never seen that happen yet. I only get out of position if a guy fouls out/gets into foul trouble on sit and he is the only player at his position on the chart.
