Or it could be based on world/country rankings.....order by rank, then first for Big, second for Great, third for Big and so on....
However, situation can change during the season, and that cannot be avoided.

One really easy thing to change: cut the third draft round, adjust the number of rookies. NOBODY knows what its good for to get three rookies, 2,95 of them are garbage anyway.

Plus this would make scouting somewhat better, because you could get a more precise opinion of the availiable players.

This is such a minor problem, assuming it's a problem at all that it's not even worth wasting the time to change.

Thread-title does not say "problem". To me this appears to be an easy fix, of a minor issue - small steps are better than standstill

Fair enough. I'll clarify. I don't think it's even a minor issue, I think the draft is set up just fine the way it is.

Just my opinion.

Disagree, under that system everyone would pretty much know everything. Then why bother with scouting at all? And if you want to spend more to see more then that is an option as well. Someone who spends $20,000 per week in scouting should be vastly rewarded with knowledge above someone that spends just 10K.

I like the draft system as is.

It just produces junk data that pollutes the database. Reducing the junk data by 33% with just cutting one draft round would be a nice way to fix that. If there are 3-5 useful players in every draft class, we dont need 48 to choose from.

If "everybody" had good information about the draft it would lead us to 1) the worst teams picking the best players (thats the intention of a draft system anyway) 2) the best teams still would not spend a dollar, because they would only pick up trash players anyway.

The 'junk data' of one extra round of drafting is minimal compared to the huge fraction of teams, leagues and games that are both simmed and saved in all those BOT infested lower divisions.

Canada has about 300 active teams meaning that all of them can fit in the top 3 divisions (where there are 336 total spots). Meanwhile there are over 5000 perpetual 'BOT' teams with rosters and simming games 2-3 times a week in divisions 4 and 5. Then multiple that by all the countries in the world (number of divisions and bot teams will obviously vary from country to country) and then multiple that by 20-24 seasons of play.

Do you really think that one extra round of drafting is creating that much 'junk data' compared to that?
