Whatever changes there were to the GE, they certainly affect more than BL/LCD.

I was using Strictly Follow and set both starters and backups in my Private League Game today. Here is the lineup I set, which I've confirmed after the fact by loading the former match tactics.

PG: T.Eller / B.Morse
SG: E.Riddick / M.Williams
SF: L.Kangguo / L.Givens
PF: A.Dzilums / F.McGovern
C: M.Georgiev / K.Tolbert

Here is what was used:

PG: T.Eller / B.Morse
SG: E.Riddick / L.Givens
SF: L.Kangguo / M.Williams
PF: M.Georgiev / F.McGovern
C: K.Tolbert / A.Dzilums

So at this point, it appears we really have almost no control over our lineups with this new GE. lol

I was the other team playing in this match referenced above and I did a completely blank lineup with 10 players on my roster. My minutes for my starters were somewhat strange as I had three players with 43- 44 minutes and two in the thirties. One of my 40+ minute players got hurt in the last minute so an injury could not have been the cause for the extra minutes played by the other starters. All players that played 40+ minutes had inept stamina.

Just wondering - how we can see detailed minutes per player per position from private league games? It would be much easier to see results of the new code....

We can see those from weekly stats for league/cup games by saving those after every game......I know that supporters can also see Play-by-Play and then calculate manually from there.

So very hard to see what has happen in my last PL game. (68934620)
-> PG spot empty, others selected - "Coach pick from Depth chart"
-> I see from Play-by-Play that one player was selected as PG starter, but he has played more in SG position where he was backup and reserve.
-> in stats, no one has played in PG position, minutes shared to several other positions....

PS. Other option for very complex player selection code would be making those lineup boxes mandatory (all) and if there is no player (only possible cases: player sold/fired/injury and manager has not saved lineup for the game after that) then lucky fan would take a place.

Same problems here: (71937548)
To cut it short: strictly follow, starters and backup were set, but the minutes don't fit at all.
If it is just for private league games, heck with it. But in league and cup i want to play and receive perfect training minutes, but with the GE mixing minutes all around it won't succeed!

Sounds like this needs to go back to the drawing board.

I have always used a BL and built my team to give the 'coach' options, true 1,3, and 4's are hard to come by, especially for someone who has done a poor job of cash management and who has to work on a tight leash financially. Therefore my team tends to be a lot of 2's and 5's who are pliable, I subscribe to the George Allen school in that I prefer older players, do zero training of the youth. But I also ascribe to the Dean Smith school of situation substitutions and the BL truly allows me to best fill that vision.

Now how will this affect teams constructed such as mine? Will this result in needing to make sure to always keep the scubs inactive in order to avoid having them installed at innoportune times?

Oh well, guess it does no good to kvetch, guess it looks likes I am going to be singing a new tune come next season

Hello,

this is how I played from season 2 to season 18 in Brazil, playing more than 10 seasons in the first league, winning the cup once, being league runner up twice, being u-21 coach and training quite a few successful NT players from many nationalities:

9 players
1 starter 1 backup for 4 positions
1 starter no backup for the position I'm training
strictly follow
do not substitute in case of foul trouble

this lead to a lot of sacrifice in terms of team performance, however my training was maximized (90% of time I was able to train 3 players/week in a single position). an excellent tradeoff.

after almost 2 years I came back to BB and it is still the greatest online game ever.

i would like to know if this new engine would prevent me to train my players like described above. let me know asap, please. if yes i'll just quit right now. thx.

Another week, another test, both games with LCD:

Utopia team: (72396928)

12 players were selected to play.

The lineup was set this way:

PG: Buchwald / Buchwald / Buchwald
all other slots were empty.

That's the lineup taken from the play-by-play:
POS Starting-Five
PG J. Zozaya
SG J. Selva
SF B. Penkov
PF G. Marasco
C G. Walsh

Buchwald played 11 mins as Center.

-----------

First team: (71938051)

12 players were selected to play.

The lineup was set this way:

PG: Stoebner / Stoebner / Stoebner
SG: empty
SF: - / Wildenhain / Wildenhain
PF: empty
C: empty

That's the lineup taken from the play-by-play:

POS Starting-Five
PG S. Harberg
SG R. Geugelin
SF G. Quellmelz
PF T. Harjans
C S. Hirschvogl

Stoebner played 15 minutes as PG, Wildenhain played 11 mins as C.

Still the same things happening as last week. Any idea?

Another week - the next tests:

1st team: (71938059)

12 players (all the Germans), coach: let coach decide
lineup set:
PG: Stoebner / Stoebner / Stoebner
SG: -
SF: -
PF: -
C: -

POS Starting-Five
PG S. Harberg
SG R. Geugelin
SF G. Quellmelz
PF T. Harjans
C S. Hirschvogl

Stoebner played 37 mins as PG though. But Harberg was injured after 10 mins. Again my lineup was overridden by the coach.

------
Utopia match:

12 players (all the Germans), coach: let coach decide
lineup set:
PG: Nikifarau / Nikifarau / -
SG: -
SF: -
PF: -
C: Buchwald / Buchwald / -

POS Starting-Five
PG J. Zozaya
SG G. Miljković
SF B. Penkov
PF G. Marasco
C P. Buchwald

Nikifarau played 2 mins as SF, Buchwald played 39 mins as C. If I remember correctly my lineup shouldn't have been considered as a blank lineup and left alone by the blank lineup prevention.

But again my decisions were ignored by the coach!

Just a quick question. I've never used a blank lineup, (at least I don't think so) how does everybody use them? What are the positives?

Thanks
