Yes, I agree with you. Merchandising is related to a number of factors- NT players, strength of lineup, league leaders, homegrown players/draftees, etc.- and not

the merchandising is stricly related to the player drafted I can't accept to lose money cause I drafted 19yo players with potential 1

That was my whole point.

But in many leagues many factors have a similar weight for everything(i.e. NT players and strenght of lineups),so draft become a very important factor,I think this was ned's point

I don't like when discussions are about things being black or white.
The draft system was sensibly improved with the changes made a few seasons ago and we are all happy about it. But I agree that the way players are generated could be easily enhanced. This would make the current choice less based on luck and would reduce the anomaly of 18yo draftees sold for 4M$ or so.
A few examples:
- Star rating should be based not only on salary but also on skills (secondary, as primary are already included in salary).*
- 19yo draftees could be slightly better, on average, than 18yo (this is realistic too).
- 18yo draftees with high potential could be limited to salary lower than 5k (or to not ideal skill sets).

* i.e. a SG with high rebounding will have a higher salary than a SG with low rebounding but much better passing, IS and ID, and I am pretty sure we would all prefer the second one.

I would be satisfied enough if BB realizes the second point :D

Are you saying that in many leagues, many teams all have about the same number of NT-players from their own country?

When ned blames being 50k behind on his leaguemates in merchandise just because he's not lucky in the draft he's wrong. And if you look at his team you see that he has 0 NT-players from Italy and at least before they went up for sale his 3 most expensive players were not from Italy. Even if his leaguemates all have 0 NT/U21-players from Italy and have the same strength in line-up, he had the option to train up some good Italian players.

Even if you draft a good player it takes effort to train him up to be one of the best and especially to get him in the NT/U20 (which does make a big difference for merchandise). Generating high Merchandise is not something that teams are lucky to have but something that teams can influence themselves.

I do see 1 young italian with nice potential in his team though, so things might change if he keeps training him. Any chance he'll make the NT?

My basilar math knowledge says that 0 is a number...
Ned does not have any player that can really arrive in NT,where do you see it??If you says that you see Caputi,it's just a LOL

And it's true that ned's best players are foreigners, but ned has some god italian players, and 1 NT player.....

Yeah you're right. I solely looked at his potential. Don't know his skills but they are probably not good enough.

Yes 0 is a number. But at least in holland U21 and NT players also play in 2nd division sometimes, so it's not all equal. And when you say "some good Italian players" he has 2 Italians with a higher wage than 7k. And still his 3 best are not Italian. So there's room for improvement there when it comes to merchandise.

Of course if you start with the assumption that all other factors are equal, the 1 remaining factor will be quite relevant. The first thing is an assumption though and in this case it seems a false assumption to me.

p.s. I'd also support a little improvement for 19 yr old drafts, since the difference between an 18 yr old and 19 yr old draft is too big atm.

I didn't say that all the other factors are equal, but some of the factors have a similar impact,so yeah,to have players that come for the draft in your team become a pretty relevant factor ;D

It would be enough if the maximum value of a skill for 19years old became strong instead of respectable

I could support that.

And I'll give up on the merchandise....after this last example ;).

Ned claims he loses 50k/week solely due to not having a drafted player.

Maybe Italy and holland are completely different but the average merchandise in my division is about 50k. My own merchandise is also about 50k and I even have a drafted player (v delden).

So if you look at this info. Doesn't his claim sound unrealistic?

He opened a thread in my division: (36401) Merch: 81k/week
My merch: 37k/week

This sound more real? This was 2 weeks ago maybe it was the moon, maybe the millennium bug, who knows

He has 2 players from the draft that he trained, one with high salary. You have 2 italian players, not from your draft and with a low salary.

No problem bro.

Btw, I've had a bad season start and my attendance started to drop a lot and therefore my merchandising also took a big hit.

25-04-2011 Receita semanal de Merchandising $ 46 242
16-05-2011 Receita semanal de Merchandising $ 33 790

In 4 weeks, I took a 13k drop which kinda sucks.
