#1 fining and disciplining people whom you have a personal grudge against and/or picking out accounts that compete with you where you might let others slide. I guess I am not allowed to discuss specific cases in the forums, but I feel I7ve seen this happen

If you think there are such cases, please report them.

It saddens us (The Filipino Community) that one person from our country bb-anthony has been proved to be cheating and feels like the trust of other countries has declined on us. We just can't blame him, To the fact that he is still a person and person's can be lure to temptation, It just turned he got lured. But a failure is still a failure.

I suggest to temporarily put BB-raymund in charge of all the works of BB-anthony for he has been a very good man and a very good bb.

I don't feel I need to make sacrifices especially because of something someone else did. How would you feel if I said you should pay a fine because of something your colleague at work did? It's the same thing. So, if I got this right, you don't want to "put me in the same basket" nor did you directly mean me and my team but you still want me to stop competing at top level.

People cheat all the time. It's not a matter of powers, it's more of a character trait. Even normal users can cheat and do so on a daily basis, we all saw it. My point is that it doesn't matter if you are a BB or a GM or a regular user, cheating is always possible, but the reason why most of the people don't cheat is personal integrity. Either you have it or you don't.

@Astragoth: Do I really need to explain this?
this is exactly what i mean... this is how you will very fast loose even loyal customers like me... this was said by a BB and is totally unacceptable...

I don't think I will ever cheat. The day I start cheating will be the day I lose interest in this game (and will probably quit too).

You are questioning my resolve of not being a cheater? Because I said "I don't think" and "probably"? You're doing semantics here so let me put your mind at ease : I will never cheat. I bet my job on it. How can I be so sure? You play other computer games, don't you? I bet there was at least one game for which you had cheat codes. You used them and even though it was fun at the first moment, the game got boring and got boring fast. Did you learn anything from that? I did. Cheating makes you lose interest in a game. I played BB for 3 years before joining the dev team. I have no intention of ever quitting the game. If you put those two things together, you'll understand why I never cheated and never will.

@Docend24: You are talking about some formulas and such abstract things. Let me put your mind at ease; I don't know anything about our game engine. It is written in a programming language which is not my specialty at all. Also, I doubt that even if I did know how the game engine works, I'd be able to predict the outcome of such a complex code piece which calculates hundreds of variables and even probably uses some randomness to generate game outcomes. If I did, I'd be beyond rain man. There is nothing I could do or advise a national team to help win a game even if I wanted to (which I don't).

As a conclusion, let me state this. Some of you guys are have concentrated your efforts on discrediting the BBs that have been nothing short of flawless so far on account of one BB that turned out to be a cheater. Think about how you would feel if someone attacked you because of something someone else did. The thing that separates players from cheaters is integrity, not BB powers. Remember that.

And stop dropping malicious offhand remarks here and there please.
Abhorrent methods, that !

Back up or shut up.

Speculations, fantaisies, that's all you bring to the table.

I boo your methods.

Boo !

Accusing the staff of hypothetical wrongdoings for one incident is like accusing your league mates to cheat for one cheater caught in the league. It's just stupid logic and a fallacy.
It's not like you've just realised devs have access to the DB, right ?

If we are going down that road then nothing stop us from accusing each others of any *hypothetical* infringement and making unsubstanciated, venimous insinuations. I know devs are a lesser kind (sorry for that) but they should be treated like any other member, no insinuation should be allowed.

I think it should be noted Anthony was caught in a few days, proof that the game community can quickly spot inconsistencies and report them.
And let's make no bones about it, BBs, GMs, LAs, Mods are under additional scrutiny, since they are "officials", users are curious of the team they have, how they play the game. You are being watched, think about it when you are picking your nose at half time.

Well, my definitive response is that I'll probably see you this Saturday so we will deal with this problem using liquid tools, and believe me, after few gallons, we won't even remember who the f*** is Antony

It is not so important how high can someone jump, more important is who is the last one standing

I guess we're lucky you don't call the shots here, you'd strip all of us from our teams! What would that accomplish? Having people that don't play the game moderate and develop it brought us to this situation. Anthony made his mistakes probably because he understands the game so little. He was not a player when he was hired and was still learning the basics.
You have delved into the suggestions area here with all the ideas of what should be changed. Let's try and keep this discussion as focused as possible.

Well that is kinda my point.
If we see it happen, we report it.
No one would ever know, but the GMs/BBs .

Exactly, once you report something the report will be there and it will be dealt with. A dishonest GM could not make it go away. I have no way to make you believe it, but this is what I fully believe seeing behind the curtains.

You know well that without any cheating or such intended different GMs make different decisions given esentially the same situation. In the current model GMs are just volunteers so I can't blame them for having their own perspectives on things and not making 100% the same decisions. The solution, to me, is a professional who does not play the game along side us.

We have a set of rules and procedures that guide two GM's with different background and level of experience to make as close to the same exact decision in the same exact situation as possible. But many things (for example, judging what is offensive behaviour on the forums) are not black and white, and 100% the same decision therefore cannot be guaranteed. I don't think it has anything to do with being paid or not. Not being paid means that we are not on the job all the time and we may therefore learn the job slower or be unavailable for a longer period of time, but I would like to think it does not affect the decisions we make. I certainly don't see how it would affect my decisions. I agree it affects the time I can and want to spend doing the GM work.

Sorry....but it was more like 10 days, not a few days. It takes players 3 days to come off the TL(and he sold a couple of players), and if you look at when all this started it was closer to November 2nd and this thread was started on Nov. 11th. So I agree, with his team being shut down for good on the 12th. 10 days is pretty fast.
