Three of four Polydozels to start in the All-Star game (part 2)

They also announced the players who will be participating in the three point shootout. Jubas Beasts veteran Jorge Sarabia will be participating, along with Norman Johnson (H.P.), Christian Suropia (Devil Bats Deimon), Regie Castillo (CPP-NPA), Mervyn Jamora (team Polydozel), and Vitezslav Jurica (H.P.)

Sarabia, who is currently #1 in 3-point percentage, is predicted to be the favorite. While Castillo and Jurica are considered the dark horses of the competition, because of their clutch prowess.

"Sarabia is more on the half-court style of shooting threes... The Beasts rotates the ball until defense sags away on Sarabia, then banking the shot." says Anthony Suntay, PBA commentator.

"Even though Sarabia can do clutch and cold blooded dagger threes, Castillo and Jurica is my favorites to win the competition, because clutch threes is their forte." Suntay also added "..their style in making threes comes from fast paced offense, kickouts, and off-balance throws. And these two are good at it and are capable to throw three to five of those... even seven."

Ubaldo's Squad Lucky on 13th?

The controversial press conference for Ubaldo Nudalo last saturday proved the critics wrong that his head getting bigger after winning every game he played in PPL. Dominating the game against the Beasts, he played above his average PPG and RPG.

"It is a possibility that the Beasts are just unlucky on our 13th game and my squad just got lucky but i have a lot more games to prove that I can bring anyone's team down. The rivalry with Cheng, Louzada, Sarabia and my personal favorite Nora who gave me a hard time with the ball. I am still hoping that we could still play each other in the playoffs and the Philippine Cup." said Ubaldo Nudalo who is a little bit more humble this time.

"My boys was too tired to party tonight after a big win against the beasts. They put their best on the game and Im happy of the result.. i was doubtful of what the result was going to be before the game. I thought that we are going to lose against a good outside shooting team."

National Team eyeing for a key player in last spot

The National team coach issued a press release regarding the issue of a rebuilding effort in preparation for the second round of the BB Asia Championship. Held at the Ascott Makati Serviced Residence Manila.

"We are currently in talks with other teams submitting, maybe a videotape of their teams playing, so that we may get some players from them. And unfortunately, we haven't got anything in particular." says the worried coach.

"We are also releasing notices to other teams, regarding on our search, to find another point guard to add up to the squad." says Yeng Guiao, NT advisor and incumbent NT staff.

"We need to have help on the backcourt, especially on leading the offense. And i know it is hard to find premium type of filipino players, now that the PPL is having a handful of teams that support local talent." says Jason Webb, a sports commentator, analyzed in his blog.

Other bloggers, too, are forming in some kind of "network" to find good crop of players, interconnecting them all from other leagues. some sites giving their own pick prospects.

"Other sites give some players that they compare to our big men, like Nudalo and Cepeda and others." says one blog www.supportNT.com. "But one site is up to speed is the findtherightguard.com. This site really pertains to the one that the NT's really need, the 1 position."

"Too bad, their prospects were really few, and unknown, and i don't think that they are worthy to be backups for Sarabia." says Alan Future, basketball blogger, and site developer.

Polydozel failed to cause upset

Team Polydozel visits the Jubas Beasts hoping to add another loss to the home team. Hipolito Guarnes said that he is anticipating this particular match all season long.

"I knew from the beginning that Jubas Beasts is the team to beat. I just didn't know that they will be this good. All season long... long until they were beaten by the Blazers."

"I just hope that we'll have a chance this time."

And that chance was held at the Jubas Astrodome. 9254 people gathered to watch the team to beat, and the team who aims to beat, in full 48 minutes of the ballgame.

Jubas Beasts showed why they are the team to beat. With their tenacious defense, they limit the visiting team to only 26 points in the half, despite Guarnes' first half blast of 14 points.

Team Polydozel faced with a crisis, having both Jamora and Gotardo in foul trouble, and Tongson with 2 fouls in the first half, they need to rely on the bench squad to catch up to the hosts.

Juppert Zamora erupted, jump shot after jump shot, The Beasts never really take good care of Zamora's jumper, which resulted his 17 point, 70%FG contribution to team Polydozel.

Tanas never contributed, and the bench gave their performance to the highest level, on defense. Jubas Beasts shot 31% on the field, and despite being on the charity stripe most of the time, the Beasts shot 17 of 30 shots.

It was a fantastic display of defensive prowess, as team Polydozel forces the Beasts' shots, while the Beasts force team Polydozel to turn the ball over.

In the third quarter, team Polydozel had a rally which resulted in leading the game for the first time. However, they change leads constantly, bringing the Jubas Astrodome audience up to their feet.

Thrills start to reveal results when the Jubas beasts display prominent defense, to stop three Polydozel possessions, and convert them into baskets. Jubas Beasts beat team Polydozel by the score of 87-77 retaining their form as the number one team in the PPL.

"We were plagued with foul trouble, and we had some bad decisions in the beginning that disrupted our play for the whole night." says the team Polydozel coach. "We never thought that we'll have a chance against a team that's four or maybe five levels higher than us... so we changed our game play."

"We figured out, based by their game today, that they had a change as well."

Not only them figured it out, as many wondered why their court general Jorge Sarabia didn't play the whole game. Tonillo and Edzen Lina played in the point instead.

"Maybe they were really aiming for a flawless run this season. And their loss to the Blazers really hurt them a lot." says Simeon Tongson, who also had a bad rep night with 10 points and 12 rebounds (0-4 3PT).

"They played well, they focused on defense mo this game, but you could see that something is bothering them."

Jubas Beasts is averaging 96.7 points per game, almost 10 points above their game score of 87. It is only their second time to win a game with a 10 point lead or below, wherein the last time was with against Rynzer Force, 108-98. (5/10/2008)

team Polydozel in talks with Eslaban

Arvin Eslaban, a national team reserve, and power forward for the Sta. Lucia Realtors, has been one of the many potential candidates for transfer this season. And in preparation for the playoffs, team Polydozel is considered one of the team who will be making moves to fill up their roster.

Ignacio Gelle, Eslaban's Sta. Lucia teammate, has been put up for sale as well. Along with the big names of the transfer are Mark Anthony Sumagaysay, and Luke Cepeda.

There have been some problems with those players' teams (Cepeda, Gelle, Eslaban) and they're forced to be put up for sale this season.

Eslaban can be a perfect fit in the struggling Polydozel rotation, simply because they need help in the power forward position, even with their rookie Gotardo's impressive season, Eslaban's experience, rebounding, and offensive unpredictability will replenish the team's power forward rotation.

"We've made offers, so as with others, and developments are still unlikely.. with our transfer list system, you will usually come up with results when the deadline comes." says the team Polydozel general manager.

Players already expressed their anticipation on the current issue.

"I'm a big fan of [Eslaban] and I'm relishing the opportunity already." says big-man Simeon Tongson, who will likely have help from the front-court if such acquisitions has been made. "Luke Cepeda and Ignacio Gelle is also in the market, such big names on sale can be a bad thing, as they would likely be bought in other countries, leaving the level of play here to somewhat a less challenging one." says Tongson.

"Eslaban is a great addition to the squad, his experience will greatly benefit our young ones." says the Polydozel trainer.

Team Polydozel nearly securing the 2nd spot in Big 8 conference

With win number 11, team Polydozel shapes up for good in the 2nd seed for the playoffs, even with future matches against the CPP-NPA, TrailBalzers United, and Devil bats Deimon.

Their 106-79 win against Air21 Express has been one of the crucial games for the 2nd spot. And with the unfortunate Luke Cepeda transfer, this made predictions much easier for critics, as they easily point out another win against the former PPL champions.

"Luke Cepeda has been an integral part of Air21 system. Now that Cepeda is out, they are more likely as the team that might as well be called 'Air12'" One source added.

Luke Cepeda has been in the Air21 since the core team building in season 3. A consistent 10 points, 10 rebound center/power forward, proficient front-court arsenal, and NT representative, Cepeda became known for his exceptional defense and strong put-back and post-up plays.

His absence however, gave team Polydozel their loophole.

"They're more into inside plays now, and that's easy to shut down once you know that they're always gonna do that." says the team Polydozel coach, resulting in various plays of raining it downtown.

Team Polydozel settled more on perimeter and outside offense rather than inside offense, resulting in 12 three-pointers and lots of open jumpers.

Hipolito Guarnes tallied for 22 points, his 7th 20-point game of the season. Herminio Cojuangco, since Corneja's departure, has been giving good numbers since having enough playing time, and in this game he scored 20 points, not bad for a player off the bench, and as Guarnes' reliever.

Mervyn Jamora scored 17 points, 15 from downtown. And point guard Juppert Zamora backs up 18 points and 4-9 from outside.

Dino Barranco is the high point man for the Air21 Express, scoring 28 points against the team Polydozel's awful PF defense, and 12 rebounds.

Simeon Tongson, doing his usual suck-at-offense-but good-on-defense play, scored just 5 points with 17 rebounds.

"He's young, he has more to share in the future. As for now, he's one of the key players on our system." says the Polydozel trainer Cristobal Key.

With remaining games, some predicted that 4-2 is the most positive result, with Guarnes healthy and Tongson sticking to what he wants, they might end up having a good chance hopefully in the playoffs.

JUBAS BEASTS DEFEND TITLE

Jubas Astrodome – The Jubas Beasts(53996) have successfully defended their Philippine Cup crown against the Ribonucleic Acid(54037) in a 97-88(6045480) thriller game. It was a much anticipated match because of the bitter rivalry of the two coaches, as witnessed last season.

From the beginning of the game both teams were making their respective scoring runs. They traded baskets ending the first half dead even at 42-42. Coach Alas reminded his boys of what has brought them here. He told them to focus on defense. And so the Beasts turned up the heat forcing the Acids to commit 14 turnovers and getting 13 steals. Coach Alas gave special mention to Jorge Olivares for playing Daganzo toe-to-toe. Marlon Kinatanar, who recently cam e back from an injury wasn’t quite himself in terms of scoring but delivered at the defensive end with 4 STL & 2 BLK. Veteran Edzen Lina scored a game-high 34 PTS to go along with 5 AST while Liang Wai Cheng had a dismal 7-27 FG shooting game.

After the game both Coaches shook hands and congratulated each other putting their past behind them. Like last year, the Beasts cruised their way to the Philippine Cup Finals giving them more time to concentrate on their quest for the elusive PPL crown.

GM-Vikman's Gabunas called up for NT

The National team proudly welcomes Gregorio Gabunas as a part of the NT roster. He is currently player for the Red Sox Nation under GM-Vikman, and he has been in the Red Sox roster since december 12 2007.

In three seasons with the Red Sox Nation, he has been working hard to fit in the rotation. In his first season, he averaged only 6 minutes per game in 6 games, struggling play time encouraged him to do more, and results came ahead in his second season.

In season 4, still with the Red Sox Nation, he played 21 games and 23,4 minutes per, a big boost from his previous seasom, producing 7.2 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, and 43.7% from the field.

Season 5 is by far his breakout year, with 11.7 points, almost 11 rebounds, with an assist, a block, and a steal per game, in 34 minutes. respect is earned in a short time, and many believe that he will have a bright future with his current team.

And now, Gabunas is currently the 3rd known Filipino player playing in the prestigious NBBA. (Ruel Garvez and Wilhelm Carillo are among others).

It is also confirmed that Gabunas will be starting the NT game against Iran, thus leaving the prominent Ubaldo Nudalo going off the bench.

"It will be no problem for me. As long as it's for the better." Says TrailBlazers all-star Ubaldo Nudalo.

There are some speculations that team chemistry will be affected once Gabunas' acquisition will be finalized. Especially with the team's standing in the second round.

"Gabunas' ability will make it par with the loss of the team's enthusiasm rate." says the NT analyst. "And right now, it seems all are pumped up, playing at Gabunas' caliber, and especially, on his side." the analyst added.

Gabunas, a defensive specialist, also known for his sensational plays of defense, and prolific inside plays, has been first acquired by the team XxXJXxX (now known as Alabang Gangbang). Originally a small forward, he has been trained by GM-Vikman because of his unlimited potential.

"Originally a small forward, but with his 7'1 height and 7'5 wing span, we knew we had to spare time on this lad because he has the good eyes on the ball." says one source close to the Red Sox management.

"Asides from being noble and amiable, he is one hell of a dedicated player. his work rate is one for the world to be proud at, and who could resist his stealing abilities?"

Gabunas redefined the term 'big man' in basketball, asides from his offense and defense, he is also ranked third in total steals in the NBBA. 5th in steals per game, and 10th in blocks. And don't forget, he is only 20 years old.

With this performance, and add up his high working rate, it's not hard to imagine him among the best 1000 players in the world. ranked up at 839 in ratings.

Philippine basketball will be changed with his addition, and it's for the better.

team Polydozel upsets CPP-NPA at Mendiola

Polydozel rookie Juppert Zamora erupted for 26 points and 6 assists and going home with the win against the struggling CPP-NPA at Mendiola.

Hipolito Guarnes earned 23 more points and another great performance. Mervyn Jamore played the full 48 minutes and shot 4 of 11, but still managed to contribute 14 points and 9 assists for their team.

Simeon Tongson struggled once again. scoring just two points, but he countered with 16 rebounds and 2 blocks.

"It was somewhat a tight contested game, if not for the 2nd qtr collapse of CPP-NPA, they would have a hard game".

NPA's power forward Karl Golen went for 24 points in the upbeat CPP-NPA pushing offense. And Jesus Sydiongco went 7 of 18 from the field thus earning him 18 points.

"They play with this style all along since the all-star break, and they gave the visiting team a run for their money." says PBA Analyst Sev Sarmienta, as he was the color commentary for the match.

"They have the caliber in giving teams a hard time and it's a sad thought that this will potentially be their final season. Given their current situation." says one executive.

Famed trainer sacked

Long time Polydozel trainer Cristobal Key was sacked along with their PR manager. It has been reported anytime last week.

The cause is due to the upcoming playoffs staff contract extension that was never arranged perfectly by other teams, one of the top trainers in the country, Julio Jenkins, was available.

"We had to make a move, Key was the core of this team, and we are very blessed with what he gave to the talents in our team, but great opportunities don't come that often and we have to make a choice. Of course we talked to Key and he understood our move".

Key was also interviewed, saying he do not hold anything about the management.

"It was a joint decision." says Key. "They had a thought and I actually encouraged for it." says key, which gave us the astonished look. "Yeah. I think also it's about time for me to move on. I've done everything that I can with the Polydozel, and I'm proud to see them flourish that well, And for me, it was like, 'I've done my work here'."

Key said that there are mountable amount of offers in his house office desk once the news break out the country, proving Key's ability are most wanted in some parts of the country.

"I never thought that this many teams want me." Key added. "I would like to look at them equally, regarding the team potential, and environment. If all permits, I might give another go."
