It depends on how far under -$500k he is. Let's assume he's just at the line.
He'll have $194k in severance to pay out, so let's put him at $694k in the red (insane!) after he releases staff.

Cutting his salary costs down to around $10k will put him at +$148k per week (he'll probably see a dip in his attendance and merch, so let's just put it at $125k per week).
In two weeks he'll be at a balance of -$444k, which means he's out of bankruptcy. He can get into the black four weeks later. So he probably doesn't NEED to sell a player.

That said, dumping his second best big man will probably result in around $1.2m in profit (and cut $15k off the expenses line) which would push him out of the red and into the black right away. He would then have a bit more flexibility to rebuild and get some reasonable staff to replace his current trainwreck. I think it's clear that Parker is his pride and joy, so I wouldn't cut him loose unless I absolutely needed to (although he's probably close to capping out soon). There's not point in scrapping all the assets on the team unless he has no choice at all.

The key here is for him to cut costs on staffing and find a way to get out of the bankruptcy zone ASAP without gutting the team entirely and screwing up long term goals. I think the best way to do that is to axe all the staff, sell off Frittelli and buy a decent but cheap trainee big man and three reasonably price level 3-4 staffers.

No you didn't waste all this time for nothing. You've just been taught a very valuable lesson in economics and finance which you might find useful later on both in BB and in real life.

good point. my mind was automatically thinking "get out of the red immediately" rather than just get out of the -500k zone first.

Wow. Okay.

a) -$709k means you're going to need to sell one of your big men
b) I don't think a DivIII team needs exceptional PR and Doctor. It's just overkill for your level.
c) You're grossly overpaying for all three staff members. (for example, my superior trainer is $26k per week)

I think my previous advice holds: sell the Italian big guy, fire all your staff (you can probably wait until after Saturday's game to do that) and replace them with low level guys (I'd go LVL 3 PR, LVL 4 trainer and risk going with a LVL 1 doctor until you get the economy stabilized and then get LVL 4 PR and Doctor) and buy a cheap 18 y/o big to train and flip before the season is out.
Remember, you only pay on Monday, so you should aim to time it so bidding ends on your big guy on Sunday and release and replace your staff the same day. That way you get the full benefit of having those guys around this week without having to pay them on Monday.

Well I guess some people need more explanation than others.

Did you get to -700k overnight? No. You have -40k weekly, meaning you should have foreseen this. If you want to disown all responsibility for this mess and blame it all on BB then you're beyond help.

Just wondering but how did he only just get the -500k warning...if he is losing 40k each week, then at worst case scenario he was on -499k before the financial update and would then be on -539k. At which point he would get the warning right? How has he got to -700k without already going bankrupt?

Or I'm missing something very obvious lol.

He played 3 away games in a row. Net weekly income doesn't account for that so he would of lost a lot more then 40k that week.

ah right :P My bad :P haha but still funny to see how someone can get that far in debt.

Fire all staff. Sell all players. And pretend like you have started the game again but at a higher level and with much more initial income and with all the knowledge you have from what you have learnt so far.

That is terrible advice. He has the assets to get out of debt without selling everyone. There is no need to completely panic and burn the whole thing down.
