If this is your first season you just wont believe the quality of players that are floating around right after the draft. Teams have pumped $20,000 a week all season into the draft only to get a $3,000 starter while the week after the draft you can pick up an 18 year old $4,000 all star (with flaws) for $1!
This season for $221,000 I picked up:
Justs Saukans (16948525) Small Forward
Weekly salary: $ 6 030
Age: 18
Height: 6'1" / 185 cm
Potential: allstar
The only downside is you will have to settle for a European. There aren't many good Australians around and I imagine there are way less Japanese. There are 6,000 active teams in Spain, 5,000 in Italy, 700 in Australia and only 40 in Japan!

if you want to see a new team with tons of potential look at this
LA Munks
19 yo HoF
20 yo SS
21 yo HoF
a pity they started in the last week of the season so really that potential is all wasted but still it shows how random and unfair things are now

well i agree with you really
although a 20yo ss can still be trained and i wouldnt bother with a 26 yo, but they both might as well be starter potential
and the advantage over some random 18 yo is that they are YOUR player and your fans will love them more than some random guy from estonia or peru
i am just pointing out the randomness
really at this stage of the season the 21 yo is a 22yo hof dude - 6th man would do
but imagine starting with a 19 yo hof early in the season
could sell him for a few hunderd thousand and just win your div 4 easily or keep him and make him into something amazing
i started mid season with a 19 year old mvp and he is my best player now and forever and i have been really bad at training
