I think there is a lot of wise advice posted in this thread for a new manager.
The only thing i would comment on here (and i see repeated over an over) is "buy an 18yo perennial all star and train him".

It is true that this type of player will have plenty of scope to be solidly trained for 3,4 or 5 seasons and his resale value should hold up well.

However, you maybe be able to get better value for money by buying a 19yo or 20yo with a similar potential and better skills than the 18yo. (the reason why they might be similar cost is if they have only been slightly trained or trained in one skill over the last season)

Equally you could buy a cheaper 18yo star or all-star with higher starting skills.

This is particularly true if you think you will keep and play your players for many seasons as either starting 5 or as reserves.

For example one of my first trainees was an 18 year old starter potential with good starting skills inside and outside. Starter potential might sound very low but he took 2 to 3 seasons to train solidly to meet his potential and now plays well at any of the outside spots now in my division.

the main thing is to take your time when buying trainees - there are plenty of them around!

Popyes' team doesn't have terrible game shape. All of his rotation players have respectable+ game shape. Sobremisana has awful game shape because he hasn't played this year, but the manager is active and I would assume that will change soon.

Circus Shots just vastly overpaid 190k for two old, mediocre players and killed any chance he has for promoting, no matter how well he manages game shape and enthusiasm.

Best case scenario: he makes the playoffs and breaks even financially since he will only get 1/3 of the attendance revenue.

Worst case scenario: he loses his first game in the playoffs, loses money due to poor transfer purchases and having to pay salaries for that week.

Your advice is excellent, but promoting as a new player with 5 weeks to improve your team is a long shot at best.

Popyes' game shape did improve from what it was last week when I first posted, so he might just be recovering from a cup run. So I'll dive you that. But he doesn't manage enthusiasm which is a huge mistake and he always plays the same tactics: Patient, 3-2 Zone

Circus did overpay for two older players which does hurt his chances. Also happening after my post . Apparently he missed an important part of my message.

4. Invest in some older players who are good (salaries around $8,000-$10,000). Players 30year old+ plus players can be bought for relatively cheap on the transfer list. Don't worry they will still be good for a couple more years.

I didn't say it was going to be easy or wouldn't take talent, but the season is only halfway over and no one in his conference is a dominant force.

I know for myself I hated to stay in D.V cause it's no good and filled with bots. Quite frankly I started losing interest in the game cause it was way to easy the next year in D.V. I only wish I joined a little earlier like he did so I could have had 2 weeks more money to spend and also not overpaid all of my 300K on one player right away.

I still would say go for it, but that might just be me.

also build up your arena, it is the main source of income and it needs to be large. Try before you hit div 3 to get a 13k ish seat arena. I promoted from div 5 my 1st year then promoted from div 4 my first year in it and now I am paying the price of not having a big enough arena, that and I am not winning this year in div 3 like I did last year so I am not making money like I should.
