Background: It is put forth pretty clearly that scrimmages only serve one purpose: to give minutes to players that hadn't played a lot in league games in a particular week. As such, they bring no revenue and do not affect enthusiasm and fans.
I read some reactions to this post, but not all, therefor I am not sure that what I write is not written yet, but I didn't see it so far.
I think there is another reason for scrimages, to be able to play with taktics, line-ups, and to see how the GE reacts to certain things. Maybe this is even the main reason why there are scrimages (do not read: main reason scrimages are

meant for)
I do like the idea to be able to tweak minutes, but always leave the option available to tell the coach to
play as if it was a league game. So there is still this room for experiments.
