To add to that, being in from the outset gets you a year of development so that next year you'll be better than teams starting out from scratch. So you'll have a better chance of beating those teams in the Cup next year and be on a par with the ones that started this year. It's definitely better than waiting.

And you'd miss out on being able to purchase players that would have been fired for $47k because over a thousand of your best friends and rivals all need to build a team from scratch. Who'd want to pass up on that opportunity?!

I've thought about it myself, but I already fired two of my draftees so I wouldn't have the guys to suck up minutes in Cup games.

Yeah, but since no one has more than 50-100k to spend, it doesn't make much a difference to my first team.

I think this kind of things belongs to the particular taste of playing a worldwide competition as Utopia.
There will be other issues, some good and some bad, with respect to playing earlier or later. For example, teams playing last-minute playoff will have a few more hours to react if they played earlier.

But it is true that this could lead to some disadvantages that eventually would make people from Eastern countries prefer to play later.

let's say you win cup game
or play home game
you get your $50,000 or attendance money before the others and can start buying new players first

The only regret not to be able to appear in this competition returns to the loss of income of points for the "Enthusiasm" and 50000 dollars of likely victories. The not committed(hired) teams should receive a financial compensation.
