I guess I can explain how the GE works and maybe it will help you out in understanding. The outcome of the game is decided in the 15 minutes before game time. The path in which the game reaches this outcome to my knowledge is completely random. The game can be back and forth, there can be a few big swings and runs from each team, whatever the case may be. Now as for your game, you definitely had one of the more insane swings I’ve seen, but I have seen it happen before. It is pretty rare to have one as bad as yours but it is what it is. The GE needed to get the outcome that it decided and it took a pretty extreme path, and I guess the substitutions, or lack there of, that you are complaining about was part of that.

I will be surprised if you find someone that knows the exact mechanics behind the timeouts, I’ve played this game since single digit seasons, watching a fair amount of games live and couldn’t give you even an idea of how they work. I just know the GE needs to get to a certain outcome and figure it’s substitutions helps do that.

Lastly, no need to be rude to E.B.W. He was simply countering your points and explaining why and how you lost the game. Your initial post was about timeout mechanics, but you have commented on rosters and other things in which he was referencing.

Sterling,

The game was decided on Friday, not in the 4th quarter of that game. Take a peek at the Alphas' GS. They most likely had the enth advantage on you too. Great job being scrappy and having a team that did really well this season. But yeah, you were gonna lose regardless of any tactic you picked or any guess you made. If I were you, just be gracious in defeat and come back stronger next season. Kudos to you though, I thought you might pull off a miracle. Tbf, that's what it would have been, regardless of what coach did after a TO.

If this is the case, then why even bother to run the playback? Just post the score after the sim runs and let us move on.

The game viewer is the main feature of this website, I am not quite sure why it would ever even be considered to not run it..? You have to remember this website was created 15 years ago, and that is how it was set up. "Live" GE's are incredibly difficult even today to create, let alone 15 years ago. Just move on and come back stronger next season for that league title!

If the outcome is predetermined (i.e. no chance for an "upset" as is the argument of those in this thread) then there is no need to wait for the game viewer to show you what is already set in stone. What we have learned from the experts posting here is that the sim will do whatever it takes, no matter how extraordinarily unrealistic, to get to that predetermined score. Anything else is just a waste of an hour and a half. To be successful, all one needs to do is to load up on high dollar players and then train game shape every week.

That's one way to play this game, if that takes the stress out of you, you can just look at the boxscores for sure!

The fact that the outcome it predetemined has nothing to do with the chance for an upset, the engine could decide that there will be an upset..

Yeah, this never happens. Just look at the previous posts in this thread (although no employees of BB have responded that I am aware of)

The story of this game is, the underdogs managed to fight back for 3 quarters but ran out of air in the 4th quarter. Why is this unacceptable for you?

No, the story of this game is that the coach (who we have no control over) mismanaged the timeouts and substitutions that were set before the game started. The sim became unrealistic in the fourth quarter of a playoff game, and nobody has an actual explanation as to why--other than assumptions.

Brother, I tried to help you out, but if this is your thought process then I have nothing else to say. Good luck going forward
