It's a little bit bigger than this: if in a specific context a team makes more money on the long run by being at D2, then he has more chance to win D1 by staying more time in D2 and then promoting when he feels he has a chance of wining; instead of being at D1 making less money and having no chance at title.

But I don't think that's the case here in BB, and I don't think it will be even with these changes, specially because of the announced attendance change.

But remember that only one team promotes each season to D1 so he actualy dont know if he will be also in Finals next season because some strong teams from D3 also can promote to D2 so I think if there is the chance to promote then go ahead!!! and in future everything can happen!! Easier is to stay in D1 I think than promote to D1.....

After several days of first anger, then quiet reflection, then a reassessment of the numbers (for the nth time)... If I could, I'd have relegated from the EBBL this season.

I don't know how big the attendance is going to be next season (a rise), and I don't know whether I'll sell out.
As I don't know whether I'll sell out, I don't know what prices to set for the start of the season.
I don't know whether I should expand (I probably should).

I know they're taking 40%, which although won't kill me, it'll stop me improving anywhere in my team until I figure out how to turn a profit. Of course the teams higher up the EBBL with their huge arenas will make less... but they'll be making profit (rather than treading water). I see nothing in my current situation that doesn't suggest I should try and stay up next season.

You are absolutely right. I am the perfect example. This is the second season when my team were trapped at semi-final. I wont in D1 :=) but little morgen (tomorrow).
Fortune is on other side :=)

Sorry for my bad English.

Why would you give the top division more fuel to the "we need to make more money up here than everyone else"?

Move up earn the money take your lumps.

Remember, should you finish last, you get the first draft choice...... compared to the other teams in the division you are dropping back to.

I would expect you to earn considerably more in DI than in DII, because the fans are much more interested in buying tickets.

This only holds if his area is big enough. Mine, for example, has been designed to be full at max prices in DII (which, one may argue, has been optimal up to now). So I am lucky I have some spare cash to extend it a bit, otherwise the only benefit I get from promotion is a 40% tax instead of a 25% tax...

You can't expect BB's holding the hands of every user to make them expand their stadium/adjust their ticket prices.
Every user has to use his brain cells to see which possibilities his fanbase is offering.
(btw, I still think max prices isn't always the way to go)

One may also argue that it is not optimal. If a stadium has room for fan growth, then a franchise is ready for a sudden winning streak. Perhaps.

One may also argue that the only benefit you get from promotion is a tax. You also get the benfit of promotion. If one chooses to be pleased only by financial reward, then promotion might mean nothing. If one chooses to be pleased by achievement, then promotion might be a benefit.
