Well, what can I say? A few weeks ago I thought that I would be gearing up for a promotion campaign next season rather than this one, but once I bought Ilisoni Hampshire (for quite an inflated price I will admit), a voice in the back of my head was telling me to go for it. And the voice was right; buying up for the play-offs really was my best bet, as there are several teams threatening to buy-up themselves next season, and no guarantees that my team would be able to clinch the best regular season record next season either.
With that said, I made sure to buy up in such a way that would also set me up well for an ABBL campaign should I succeed, whilst giving me an out should I fail. If I lost to Crockers in the finals, I would've sold Stankovic and Bailey and voila, I'm financially viable again for the new season whilst still having a great starting 5. As it turned out, I GDP'd my way to game one and everything fell into place. I was even able to train Pressure PG this week...
Had I lost game one I would've trained Game Shape instead, Normalled game two and played either Look Inside or Low Post in game three. I suspect that game three would've been virtually a coin toss had that scenario played out. As always in these sorts of situations, I do feel bad for the losing manager, but I guess that's BB, there's always going to be some managers that get unfortunately shafted by the 'champions promote only' system.
Now I've got to try and find myself a proper SF so that I don't have to run a triple-guard line-up in the ABBL next season ;).
