I do not consider myself one of the usual suspects.

By "usual suspects" I meant the higher ranked home team in each playoff match, not a specific team, clarifies Mr. Kobayashi on behalf of his employer.

Another duel pronged approach to tonight's semi final foray.

First scenes involving our final four

https://youtu.be/eGFqvM9-gQw

Announcer: for two more teams tonight will lead to the continuation of their championship dreams. For two others the ride will end.

Over in the blue bloods odds on favorite Diorite against Cinderella Caerbannog. Do the bunnies have one more miracle left in their bag or will the pistons keep pumping tight to the finale.

While off in club red 2 and fierce will fight it out one last time. Does 2 ride their crest of rebuilding to the promised land or do the kitties claw their way back to the championship series for the second straight season?

Now the montage switches over to showing scenes from those two teams who are already stated to moving on, and of the three that are on the verge of joining them.

https://youtu.be/dxOn-aZZ9z0

For others tonight will mark the end of a difficult journey. But tonight is one last chance to fight against the dying of the light.

The blizzards are resigned to their fate. Tonight they will st least look to extend matters to a third game while the Generals are eager to close the books on a frustrating campaign.

The nation may or may not be ready to send Wadsworth packing though if the stalwarts on the wire do move they will be well compensated.

And spike will prepare to part the scene in their battle with stormz as at least they will get to take a last look goodbye in front of the home folks.

Sybil has her projection of tonight's battles. We will have a special preview of who are the front runners for league MVP and we will go behind the scenes to learn more about the critically acclaimed "Songs from the slaughterhouse" collection and on how it came to be. So sit down in your chair right there, we got all that and more to spare as it's time for another edition of BB2NIGHT

No surprises in the semis and the nation took care of their business. However the other RL's saw a pair of rather unexpected results. Now I don't know what to say about stormz but in the blizzards-generals battle I think forgetting to play my usual 3-2 defiantly tilted the balance because to be honest my boys couldn't defend a team of grandmother's man to man. And give it up to the blizzards, No-No Noya came off the bench for the bruised Reeves and filled it up. And now these four teams will proverbially be playing one for the Lord Tuesday night. But winning is suddenly not a given thing.

But this was not the most difficult thing to stomach this evening. That would be the Carolina-Va.Tech game. Now Hokied as I am sure many of you know is a proud alum of VPI, and since i did hang out with him when I went to his neck of the woods just outside DC I can say he is quite a guy. So good for him they pulled that out. But that game ripped my heart out. UNC came in looking so tattered, so discombobulated, that I figured the hokies would roll them just like the last two seasons. But Vegas did only have tech a -6.5 favorite and despite my perception that it looked like easy money well tonight was a reminder that those old boys in the desert know what they are doing when they set the number.

For 3 1/2 quarters tech looked like garbage, Bud Foster is a defensive savant but all night the heels moved the ball almost at will but miss opportunities, stalled trips in the red zone, and a couple of missed field goals kept it a one score game. Carolina was leading 19-14 and stuck inside their own five, but Nate Elliott throws the pass of his life and the resulting 80yd plus gain put my heels on the doorstep once again. A couple of plays later it's 1st and goal on the 1. Next play Michael Carter gets hit on a textbook helmet on the ball play, ball pops out, so instead of Carolina going up 2 scores with 6 minutes left tech takes over on its own 2. Then proceed to drive 98yds in 18 plays converting four third downs AND a 4th and 9 to score with :19 left to win 22-19. I am loyal to the heels. I follow them in good times and bad. But coming into tonight I had quit caring, or at least I was at peace with our ineptitude. But this one has left me more pissed about Carolina football then I have been in years. Then again this will help to hasten the demise of our harebrained coach Larry Fedora, but this is one of those games that you wake up pissed about the next day.

Don't worry, I'm a Miami fan and am still trying to figure out how we lost to Virginia. You're right though lambini....with the group I have, I was happy you went man, lol. 3-2 tends to give this group some issues. At the same time, I was supprised Noya earned his salary. I like how Jean is playing. He's my young PG prospect that I found for dirt cheap on the transfer market. He's really starting to pay dividends. Once I get him completely trained, good things are going to happen as he'll be a nice compliment to Meade. There's no way we come away with a win at your place, but the fact we somehow stole one gives our guys a little hope lol.

The canes are unpredictable. Though your definitely not what y'all were for most of last season. The analogy from last year of Miami being a Porsche that got wrapped around a telephone pole is just about right, there is so much talent that you can beat anyone on a given day, well maybe not Bama but who really can. But conversely they have always had a undisciplined streak dating back to the 80's which has led to teams with no business against you having a shot, and last night was a prime example of that.

First I think in many ways that was a letdown loss after the FSU miracle. Charlottesville is not a tough place to play, but it is a pain in the ass to get to, and im sure y'all thought it would be a laugh because UVa sucks. But as Chris Berman says, that's why they play the game. Sounds like the canes slept walked for three quarters, woke up, but simply lost their poise when they needed it most.

You hit the nail on the head with the poise nail. You have them stopped, will probably give up the fg, but then push the guy cause you're a tough guy.....well TOUGH guy, you just cost your team a chance to win. I've been a fan since the 80's, and it's definitely been a roller coaster ride. Inconsistency at the QB position has killed us for years since Dorsey graduated.

Oh so your a true OG canes fan? Man those were some teams, and just the swagger back then was unlike anything before or since. Back then y'all were so good that the canes could cheap shot their way in a manner which would have made the raiders blush and still kick their opponents ass from one end to the other.

Warning: the following is legend and rumor and may have zero factual basis. Also this might get a little long winded and will deviate into a couple of sidebars, enjoy.

The funny thing is none of it almost happened. In the mid 70's Miami was the dregs of college football. Between 1970-78 there were five different coaches. Just before Schnellenberger took the gig in 1979 the great Lou Saban was the coach in. 1977-78.Rumor around here was then UNC coach Bill Dooley had committed to the job, but changed his mind literally at the airport just before flying down there to sign the deal. Rumor also has it he ended up not taking the gig because he was having an affair with a cheerleader and was falling for her. Funny thing is he resigned at Carolina a couple of years later to take the coach/AD job with....wait for it....Virginia Tech. Back then word was he did so because he couldn't deal with playing second fiddle to Dean Smith. But the grist mill suggest it was because his wife found out about the cheerleader and was going to very publicly divorce him and well nobody is better at covering stuff up than UNC. Turns out it he immediately married the cheerleader and well no one up there asked too many questions.

Now Carolina went at that time to the "cradle of coaches" Miami Ohio and hired a guy named Dick Crum who did last about 10 years, in fact the last ACC title UNC won was in 1980 at the crest of his reign. of course it helped he had guys like LT and a pair of 1,000 yard rushers in 'Famous' Amos Lawrence ( who went onto play for the niners) and Kelvin Bryant (when healthy he was almost Gayle Sayers like). Eventually however Crum pissed of a lot of people with his demeanor and recruiting suffered and eventually he just had one 5-6 season too many (with a team preseason top 20), and that led to hiring....wait for it....Mack Brown.

But I digress.....

When Dooley split he did so literally just before or after signing day. It was a shocking development and Carolina was scrambling to find a replacement. Well who do you think shows up to give his input and perhaps solve the issue in his own? Wait for it....wait for it....Dean Smith. Turns out old needle nose had a friend who was looking for a change, a friend with a top notch pedigree, a friend who was ensconced in one of the highest profile coaching positions in college football. A friend who was still young but who had scaled the highest rungs. And a friend who was a little dissatisfied with the AD where he was. But also a friend who would only consider the gig if everything was done very hush hush. Well the search committee would have none of that, they were bound to be public on whom they were courting. And who might you think this mystery man turned out to be? Why no one other than the great Tom Osbourne. Think about that as a all time what if!

I was sure UNC was going to win that one. It haf the feel of games we always lose. But UNC was able to steal defeat from the jaws of victory. I actually had to tell 2 of my friends that we won this morning. This is definitely one of those years you just take the moneyline underdog in every VT game regardless who is playing. It's hit 3/6 with like +600 twice and who knows how high that ODU one was.

Also the Miami Snow Blizzards? Interesting.

WOW....I had heard some of that stuff before, but not about Deano and Dooley and the Cheerleader. I'm quite sure your Generals are going to go U from the 80's on us on Tuesday!

Hard to imagine a Canes fan coming from the Texas Panhandle. Moved to the Corpus Christi TX area 19 years ago and been here on the coast ever since. Even then, the Snow Blizzards name was fitting since we never see it down here like I did in my childhood days in the Panhandle.....
