But the purchase of supporter is now unavailable, or is it just me?

Is the claim here that this change is neutral or positive for the user experience of the website? The use of an action color on the main navigation menu, linking to a page without interest for the day-to-day team management, is obviously a minor distraction to every interaction with the navigation menu, which can accumulate. Let's not start a discussion about the science behind action colors in web development.

To be clear, this is a 100% acceptable decision by the new owners. As a former supporter, I don't mind being reminded that somebody has to pay for the game to continue being free. It's just laughable that this is the first change implemented, given the concerns that have already been raised about modern game dev monetization techniques.

I know new ownership can be scary and every change or update we do will be criticized. Let me briefly explain why we made those changes in the first place and quickly, and for future updates before making any conclusions it is better to wait to see the full picture.

We first changed the supporter page because it was essential to avoid losing payments.
Since we are using a new company, payments would have been lost if they were directed to the old company, which is closing its bank accounts.
This change had to be implemented urgently. Additionally, the previous checkout system did not collect VAT or taxes on purchases, which was not fully compliant with legal requirements.

We have now implemented a system that manages these complexities. This change was necessary to avoid losing money or facing legal issues.

Some of you have mentioned the change of color on the supporter menu. I don’t think it’s a significant change requiring much attention. We simply wanted to highlight the supporter page because it’s thanks to supporters that BuzzerBeater is running!

Thank you for your understanding!

Best regards,
Marco

That’s perfectly fine but probably something that should bear a brief announcement.

A change of color and bold. As a supporter I find it distracting and ugly. It’s a change to get more clicks which once again is not completely bad but this disingenuity and double speak is what’s not winning support.

While people can be needlessly skeptical at times and a change in ownership has its difficulties this introduction to the community has been off to a rough start and doesn’t help any attempts to “wait to see the full picture”

Since it is a very minor change that needs to be done quickly and wouldn't affect any way the current gameplay we though it was not necessary to make an announcement for this one. We will make sure when we make bigger changes to announce them.

It was a simple way to highlight an important section of the website.
If we really wanted to make more clicks we would have made it more visible than what it is now.

Clearly, if more users visit this section and buy the supporter plan or the supporter plan gets more visibility in general this is a good thing that can help us in growing the game even more and users can benefit from this too.

I tried to be more present as I can and reply to lot of questions both here and on Discord, I will do my best to keep an open discussion, hope this could be appreciated.

But... Where is the problem to them getting more clicks/Supporters? Isn't that the ultimate objective?

Yup, as I said a change in ownership is a lot and both sides should try their best to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Re: Supporter

I am not at all arguing for/against the change if anything I would like the option to turn it off as another feature :D. What I am arguing for is transparency, sure it’s a small change and one that people will get used to but it does have an effect and with no communication it sends a wrong message, at this point in time at the very least.
