S16 - SBBL - Tournament Final - New Champion is born. SLZH survived to edge out Sessioes Doers 104-98 for their first even Tournament Champions.
Stunning, maybe few fans out there on Esplanade Arena hardly recognize SLZH's players name, but Leandro Perrone and Romeo Laigre were just stick to their memory at near end game.
Laigre was marvelous, raining down shot after shot, bullied his way for 25 pts to power SLZH for their big 3 quarter to defeat Sessioes Doers to acquire their First Tournament Trophy with final score 104-98. SLZH were outscoring Sessioes Doers 35-25, then slowed down the pace at 4th to gain more quality possessions. The lead was never less than 8, until final minutes, Roberto Paz started to knock the long range shot and cut the deficit to 4 with 50sec to go. SLZH took a bit scare as Laigre was fouled hard by Phil Hanson, and Abilov was stepping on Roberto Paz foot. Both was sidelined, but SLZH were already leading 99-92 with 20seconds to go, and able to secure the win.
Perrone again, looks like Dwight Howard out there, scored 24pts and 19rebs, Gorboi were quiet with 12, as he was struggling with 3 quick fouls at 1st half. Don Steri has 14points. Abilov has 10pts 6asts and 10rebs.
SD's were led by Phil Hanson with 23pts and 21rebs, Balkhausen 19pts 12rebs, Roberto Paz has 18pts, failed to make plays on crunch time, as he commited a fatal offensive fouls on final 30 seconds with the deficit only 4pts.
With the Victory, SLZH will be the first team from Division II to represent Singapore for the Buzzerbeater Best game.
