Season 23 IV.28 Playoff Coverage Continues!
Round 1 concluded with 4 games, none of which were real thrillers. The Miu/Delpra game was disappointingly not close; Delpra played their hearts out but Miu surprised them with the rare box defense and seemed to have the upper hand all along. Simultaneously, nearly 12000 fans watched as their beloved home team Krushers beat Wuju at their own game in an offensive showcase with 231 combined points. Big Dawgs Stanislaw Stapor had an amazing 24reb, 6ast, 33pt game
(58979854) but his post season is still over as the Hunterz steamrolled the Dawgs for 3 quarters and even suited up their reserves for the entire 4th quarter. The one standout from round 1 had to be the Storm/Bobcats game. Miguel Estivill
(17871784) and his Springfield squad beat down (literally) Kurt West
(24734030) and his Charlotte squad. Estivill has been with the Storm since season 20 and has suffered two heartbreaking finals defeats in consecutive season while finishing 2nd in ppg and among the MVP candidates in both seasons. This season his numbers have dropped but nevertheless he is a man on a mission for promotion and he’ll do anything it takes to get it; that was apparent when he went up to block Kurt West at the corner of the key and swatted so hard to block the shot that he sent the ball back into West’s nose sidelining him for 2 weeks and resulting in a bloody mess on the court. The Storm upset the #1 seed and advance. Watch out Krushers because the Storm are playing for blood!
Round 2 Preview:Big 8 Conference Finals: Springfield Storm @ Kole KrushersThese teams have played 11 matches with one another and the Storm have won 7 of these matches, one of which was last season’s conference semi-finals. There is a budding rivalry among these teams and it will be a fierce battle Saturday. The Storm put forth more effort in their round 1 match than did the Krushers so it will be interesting to see if their success propels them further forward or if they become drained and fall short. Only time will tell.
Great 8 Conference Finals: Miu & Co. @ HunterzThese teams have met 6 times and the Hunterz have won 5 of those meetings. The Hunterz were the stronger team last season but with the growth and development of
Wade Osborn and
Skip Couture as well as the acquisition of
Owen Goins,
Shannon Overstreet,
Jack Jarrell and others Miu is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with. These two teams held the best 2 records in the league and promotion is within reach for either so we should see a thriller as both teams leave it all on the court Saturday.
