Hmm...food for thinking...I have experiment with push the ball and it was great against the teams that i could win easily, but didnt help at all on the crucial games.

From what u r saying, ppl that are playing LI, are dump and it makes the big men relative useless if u want to focus u r offense on them, so training IS, is not that important, and is better to focus to have great G's rather a great Bigs. Well i dont like that at all...and i feel that its unfair...

Fast pace = higher scoring game in general. That doesn't necessarily mean it is a better option for you... Against tough defenses slower pace seems to work better this season.

I didn't say big men are useless now. However, their usefulness has certainly diminished from a season ago in my eyes. Also, if you play a straight up offense, you should still get a fair number of inside looks, without compromising your outside shooting too much. That's why I'm saying it may be the best way to somehow get an inside offense going.

For people who don't believe me, take a look at my season so far. I have the lowest salaries in my division (with the exception of 2 bot teams and 1 team that can't win) - the reason is I have no threat inside. And it is a division with some serious heavy weights. Last season I would probably be toast but this season I am doing ok.

Well, i have played some games run and gun too. My best C and maybe the best C in Cyprus right now(doesnt say much, we are very small community) his scoring unusually low for his strength ( 14 IS, 4 JS). My PF with 10 JS, 12 IS will score a lot on any system that i will play. He cant D thought only 9 there. Anyway in NBA its a reason that are saying that u cant teach the height and i will say again that is unfair the guards to have an adv vs the big men, and in general to the ppl that are training big men. In the history of the NBA i can remember only Jordan's Bulls to win it all without having a dominant big. If u r right certainly changes must be made, to give some balance on that

I am sure many will comment that I'm wrong and it is all about flow... That's the refrain that has been thrown on us for the moment. Maybe it is, I don't know. However, even if it is all about the flow, it still is not balanced between outside and inside tactics. If high levels of outside d shut down an inside offense and 2-3 zones don't work, there is an issue, at least to me.

I was pretty happy with how the engine was balanced last season. The only thing that maybe needed a tweak was the advantage of playing a pure C at SF in a look inside... But this seems to have gone too far and made outside offenses too powerful vs their inside counterparts.

Exactly my thinking. BTW i wish i had 10M to buy u r SF. Batsinilas (my SF prospect) has Wendon as idol and wants to be like him.

Anyway i just hope the game owners will listen the big men screams, and do something about that

Do you mean Mpatsinilas? He looks like a good prospect but I'm starting to realize that allstar potential is not fantastic if you want to build a world class SF. Wendon hit his soft cap at some point this season - this week will be the 6th week that I have trained OD. I even suspect that his training started to slow at some point last season.

I like my other trainee - Vacirca - much better. Eventually he will pass Wendon. ;-)

Outside Def.: respectable Handling: inept
Driving: atrocious Passing: pitiful
Inside Shot: respectable Inside Def.: respectable
Rebounding: average Shot Blocking: average
Stamina: pitiful Free Throw: inept

Thats my SF prospect, and expecting pop up this week on IS. Its hard to get his pass more than 3-4 and his driving more than 4-5, but on JS/OD/ID/RE i want to be like Wendon, so i think its possible even with his low potential. What u think?

Let's say in a base offense you can put up respectable in outside and inside scoring. If you go to an inside offense, this brings your outside scoring down to a high mediocre or a low average, but pushes your inside offense up to maybe prominent. The trouble is, less than half your shots will actually be inside shots. The rest of your shots will be modified with your crappy outside scoring rating. Many more will be driving shots for your guards - which is usually not good.

Now, if you go outside instead, let's say you can now put up a proficient outside scoring. The inside scoring rating is no big deal - you only get 20-25% of your shots on the inside. Maybe another 20-25% are 3s, 20-25% long jumpers and 20-25% short jumpers. That means 75-80% of the shots are using your great outside scoring rating.

So, to sum up, when you are talking about teams that can post a respectable or higher outside d rating:

man is the new 2-3 zone
push the ball is the new look inside
patient is the new low post
This is one of the areas where i still dont know how the GE works. If I choose to go outside will I:
1. recive a boost to my players JS, JR and handling in the individual matchup determing the probability of making that shot
2. skew the randomness of the shot (like TIE and CT)
3. only effect the pace and the kind of shots taken
4. recive some other kind of bonus

it is a mix betwenn 1 and 4, which leads to the point that you take more shots outside then inside because your inside chanches are scrappy(because you get there a point 1 in a negative way).

Ok,
I imagine the probability of a shot is constituted of several parts, there are the like the shot itself with mainly JS and JR vs OD, some part like Driving and handling vs OD, Passing vs OD and more of a team part where a rating like outside scoring vs outside defence (like the value in the team ratings).
Is this totaly wrong? If it looks like that, do you think the tactic only affects the team rating part (this would be my guess) or the basic skills affecting every part of the calculation?

i think it is a bit like you are saying:

individual + team rating against individual + team rating from the opposing player, where the skill are more important then the team, and also the tactic gives bonus/malus on both ends. The ability to score from the team becomes also important in shot selection, so if you had an weak individual scorer on the side on strong ones he won't take his shots because he know that they are better oppurtunities for the team.
