I agree with Damena and disagree with JuicePats. The point Damena was bringing is that by extending the auction for too long there is a chance that new bidders will come along, and therefore increasing even more the time spent and the price.
If you're taking that argument, then you're essentially saying that you need to essentially punish sellers.
I'd rather see three minutes myself, but arguing that it costs more money to have 5 minutes isn't really germane to the conversation, as most of us have probably benefitted from it as sellers at some point.
